Cutting the Cake

I wanted to create a colourful back drop to these photographs of my daughter's wedding and I certainly achieved this using a patterned paper from the MME Ooh La La For Him Paper Kit and Bazzill Dotted Swiss Scalloped Cardstock in Honey! The photographs are quite light (apart from the bouquet of flowers on the table), so I chose colours that would compliment the bouquet. I love the scalloped edge of this cardstock and didn't want to cut into it! It was quite a simple layout as I just gutted the middle from the patterned paper and used the gutted area to mat the photographs before adhering them to the scalloped cardstock.

The flowers are from Prima (who else!) and the flower middles are from an Adorn It Foam Stickers pack. I used Thickers for the main part of the title and small cardstock stickers for the remainder of the title.

Design Team: Tree Hugging

A lovely, bright layout from Julia using Bazzill Dotted Swiss Phoenix Cardstock (12" x 12" size) for the base of this layout. The patterned papers are from the Basic Grey 'Life of the Party' 6" x 6" paper pack.
Julia used Dovecraft flowers (Earthtones), which compliment the layout perfectly. She added hand-made leaves and some black ribbon, which she ruffled across the page.

A striking design, showcasing the variety of patterned papers that you get in these great paper packs. Julia has further details on how she created this beautiful layout and if you go over to her blog she will take you through the creation process.

Cup Winners!

The title says it all! I don't usually have such long titles but I wanted this one to 'shout out' and tell the story without much journaling.
The school had waited 31 years to win this cup title again and it was a fantastic achievement for this year's team to do it - well done! I wanted to capture the spirit of the day for a keepsake for 'J' when he grows up. How many times do we look back at school photographs and can't remember some of the names, although we will always remember the faces? The journaling card will capture those details forever (once completed).

I used MME So Sophie 'Possibilities' Sweet Circles Paper and MME So Sophie Charming 'Living Proof' Journaling Card for this layout. I made the titles out of a mixture of Safmat (from Letraset - such a wonderful product), Delish Designs Flocked Stickers and letters cut on the Cricut. I handcut the star from a piece of silver corrugated card and made the 'trophy' embellishment by printing the design onto safmat then sticking it onto silver card.

Florida Sun

This is a layout I created using two sheets of patterned paper from the My Mind's Eye Ooh La La For Him Kit (reduced to £5.99). The Paper Kit includes 9 sheets of 12" x 12" double-sided cardstock quality paper and 1 co-ordinating accessory sheet.

I used a sheet of 12" x 12" Bazzill cardstock (French Vanilla) as the base for this layout. The words 'grin', 'smile' and 'happy' are Adorn It Foam Stickers (a selection available from The Scrapbook Garden) and the title stickers are Delish Designs Flocked Stickers (also available from the shop). Design Team: Sweet Heart

I love the colour combinations of this gorgeous layout from Julia. She has used papers from the 'Life of the Party' pack from Basic Grey (6" x 6" size). The layout itself is 12" x 12" but with clever positioning of the photograph and embellishments you wouldn't know that. Julia used three different designs from the pack for this layout. The orange and brown flowers are from Dovecraft (Blossoms - Rich Earthtones) and Julia used pearls for the centres. The rolled roses are hand-made by Julia (what a clever lady!). The stitching effects on this layout were made by using a Tando Creative Stitches Group Mask and alcohol ink and it creates a lovely effect.

I love these gorgeous hand-made buttons, covered in papers from the pack. Julia has a video tutorial on her blog on how to make these. Why not pop over to Julia's blog and watch how she makes these fantastic little gems.

Design Team: What's in the Toy Box

Julia has created this fab layout using the 6" x 6" Basic Grey paper pack called 'Life of the Party'. She cut the patterned papers into 1cm strips and used five designs from the pack and adhered them to 12" x 12" Bazzill Cardstock for the basis of this design.Julia made her embellishments to match by covering a piece of jigsaw with one of the lovely patterned paper designs.

The flowers were made from the yellow and orange papers from the same pack and they co-ordinate beautifully with the layout. Julia used alcohol ink on the Bazzill card to give a lovely water effect finish to the layout. Absolutely stunning Julia! For more details, why not pop over to Julia's blog and see what else she has been creating.

This design shows that 6" x 6" paper can be used quite effectively for larger layouts. As in this case, the photographs cover any joins. I hope the DT have given you all plenty of ideas for using the smaller paper pads in your scrapbooking projects.

If you leave Julia a comment and you are a member of this blog I will enter your name into the Blog Candy draw. If you aren't a member - simply join today and you could be in with a chance of winning 6 lovely Tando Creative Masks. Best of luck!

Sweet Heart Birthday Card

Joanne made this gorgeous card for her daughter's birthday recently and I persuaded her to share it with us as it is stunning!Joanne used the charming 'Nitwit Collection Essentials' Butterfly Kisses Decoupage sheet for the basis of this design. She didn't just stop at decoupage though and added some delightful little touches of her own. The decoupage sheet is glittered so the butterfly wings are lovely and sparkly anyway but Joanne added some little flowers, buttons, ribbon and gems of her own, which gives the card so much more dimension. A truly beautiful creation.

The 'Nitwit Collection Essentials' Butterfly Kisses Decoupage sheet along with the Butterfly Kisses Toppers can be purchased from The Scrapbook Garden While stocks last both Decoupage and Toppers can be bought together for £2.99.

Jaqi has created this layout using the Basic Gray 6" x 6" paper pack called 'Sweet Threads', which has bold, richly hued patterns and textured arty influences in colours such as Sweet Pea Pink, lavish eggplant and flirty green apple. The photograph Jaqi has used isn't one from her 'vintage' collection but it definitely has a very 'retro' look about it. Love what Jaqi has done with the flowers in the vase! She has used Bazzill Dotted Swiss cardstock (Celtic Green) for the base of this layout and it matches the lovely apple green hues of the patterned paper she has chosen from the pack. Here is the first layout from Jules using the Basic Grey 6" x 6" paper pack called 'Hello Luscious', which has the "most decadently, delightful, completely divine line of brilliantly bright, temptingly cute papers".Jules used one sheet of striped paper from the pack and separated it into individual strips before attaching them to the cardstock. The corner flourish mask is from Tando Creative and Jules has used some green spray ink (Glimmer Mists work well with these masks also). The paper flowers are from Dovecraft. The colour combinations are beautiful and suit the photograph perfectly.

This time Julia has used a sheet of pink bark effect paper from the Basic Grey 'Life of the Party' paper pack and combined it with a more subdued background to create this very apt 'Climber' layout. Julia created her own branches and used some Prima e.line flowers that she coloured using Sunshine Yellow and Mountain Rose Alcohol Ink.

Julia has created a toned effect on her lettering (cut from Craft Robo) and if you go to her blog here she will explain how she did this.

Precious

This is the second layout I have made from the Scrapaholix Kit for June. I used another of the Kaisercraft patterned papers from the same collection. This one is called Soprano. It is beautifully printed already, so all I did was use a template to create a shape and mat the paper onto some brown cardstock for a base.I used the patterned piece from the manufacturers strip on the bottom of the paper to add a side frame around the photo, added a swirl from the crystal embellishment and made another flower using the same flower die as yesterday's layout. The word 'Timeless' and the 'Date stamp' are rub-ons. The butterfly is part of the ZVA crystal embellishment also. The title 'Precious' is made from flock alphabet stickers and I added them to a piece of acetate to give a different dimension to the page. The photo was taken about 15 years ago, so isn't actually 'vintage' but I think it is a 'Timeless' pose!

Garden Games

This is the first of two layouts I have created using the Scrapahoix Kit for June. The kit contains patterned papers from Kaisercraft. This one is from the Chanteuse Collection and is called 'Eco'. The paper is double-sided and is a lovely pale green on the other side.
I used a sheet of 12" x 12" Vanilla Cream cardstock as the base, then added brown cardstock. I matted the green card from the kit on top. The green card was quite bright so I misted it with some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist (Tattered Rose) and it gives the paper a lovely shimmer. I was left with a square base to place the photographs and patterned papers onto. I cut the photo's and patterned papers into equal size squares and adhered to the layout, leaving a small space in between each square. The flower is cut on my Big Shot using a flower layers die set, which was layered up using alternative colours of the patterned papers and spray misted with Glimmer Mist as before.

The technique this month is using a ZVA Butterfly Swirl Crystal. I cut this into 3 pieces and placed part of one piece on the layout below the flower. The other pieces are on the next layout that I will post tomorrow. Please leave a comment to say that you have stopped by. I will enter your name into the blog candy draw if you do (and if you qualify). Thank you.

Design Team: Gypsy Girl

The second creation this month from the Design Team - this time from Jaqi who has created this wonderful layout depicting another one of her relatives. Jaqi is really lucky to have so many photograph's to choose from. This layout has been created using patterned papers from Basic Grey (Sweet Threads) and Jaqi has used the Tando Creative Mask (Musical) to create the music score in the top right-hand of the layout. She has very cleverly combined the theme of gypsy girl (pictured with the tambourine) and used a stamp from last month's kit to produce tambourine shaped embellishments. I just love the colour combinations of this layout and Jaqi has kept within the 'vintage' feel, although using modern patterned papers. Another fantastic layout from the DT!

If you want to see how Jaqi put this altogether, go to her blog to find out more details.

Design Team: Fun in the Square

The Design Team were given a challenge this month in the form of a 6" x 6" paper pack, various coloured cardstock, a Tando Creative Mask, paper flowers and some Ranger Alcohol Ink. This is one of the first from Julia. I took Julia out of her 'comfort zone' (colour wise) and gave her some really breathtaking colours to use. She was given really bright colours of Sunflower, Butterscotch, Wave (bright blue), Shamrock and some Dotted Swiss Phoenix! Mix that in with one of the new Basic Grey paper packs (Life of the Party) and you have a heady cocktail of colours and textures to design with! Saying that, she rose to the challenge wonderfully and produced this absolutely gorgeous layout - how stunning! I just love the colour combinations and layout and embellishments.

What Julia has managed to achieve is a glorious mix of all those beautiful colours and produced a fantastic page. I love the stitches effect around the outside of the layout and that has been achieved by using a Tando Creative Mask (Stitches Group) and texture paste. She made the concertina flower and used some elements from her own stash as finishing touches.

To get further information on how Julia achieved this fantastic layout just pop over to her blog here

See the World @ Epcot

Joanne created these two layouts using last month's Scrapaholix kit. I have put them on together as the title runs over onto two pages. The technique that was used was 'Stickles' and Joanne has used this medium really well on these two layouts. The papers match the photographs beautifully and the colours are just fab!

I love what Joanne has done with the Tando Creative chipboard butterfly - partially covering it with paper and the remainder in stickles! Loads of lovely elements in both layouts all made using the beautiful papers. Thank you for sharing these lovelies with us Joanne.

If you leave a comment on these layouts and you qualify I will enter your name into the blog candy draw for today. Thanks for stopping by.

U.S.A.

Joanne created this layout using patterned papers from 'Making Memories'. It is an old paper collection she has used but as you can see fits the photograph perfectly!I love all the embellishments she has added (I think that they are 'Making Memories' as well - I know the buttons are). Sometimes a paper collection comes along that is just simply timeless - and this is one of them. Bunting on layouts (and cards) is so 'very now' and adds some extra interest to pages.

What embellishment/s are you using on your layouts or cards at the moment - leave a comment and let me know and I will enter your name into the blog candy draw (if you qualify under the rules on the left of the page). Best of luck and thanks for stopping by.
