TSG Quiz: Q11

There are loads of different manufacturers of craft materials.  Sadly, during these bad financial times, some are no longer trading.  Those that have survived have to move with the current trends or get left behind.

Today's quiz question: Name one of the manufacturers that I have on the drop down list on the website shop.  For everyone who leaves a (different) name they will get 2 entries into the draw (remember, the more entries you have, the more chances of winning).  Everyone else who leaves a comment (and qualifies), will get the usual 1 entry for today.  Thanks for stopping by and taking part.

TSG Quiz: Q8

Everyone is feeling the pinch, especially this month as most people haven't been paid for about 6 weeks (not long now to pay day).  It is lovely to get some bargains sometimes - that is why I have a sale on at the moment - to make way for more lovely stock by selling off end of ranges (but perfect) stock. For today's question there are two parts to the answer.

Today's quiz question:  How much would the following cost me to buy at The Scrapbook Garden shop?

1 x Baby Blue Ultra Fine Glitter
1 x Basic Grey Lauderdale 6x6 paper pad
1 x Fab Brads - Bazzill White
1 x sheet Authentique Journey - Voyage paper
1 x Quick Glue Pen (Dovecraft)

Second part of the question: How much change would there be left out of £10.00?

First person today with the correct answer (of both parts of the question) will get 3 entries into the blog candy draw for today.  Everyone else who leaves a comment will get the usual 1 entry (see rules).  Thanks for stopping by.

TSG Quiz: Q7

Ranger is another name that is a quality product (with a capital Q) and is one of the leading brands.  I love their Distress Ink Pads - my personal favourite is ....... Oh that would be giving you an answer (we can't have that now can we!).

For today's question (which you have probably guessed already!), name a colour of one of the Ranger Distress Ink Pads that I have in stock at the moment.  My out of stock products probably won't show on the screen, so name only one of those colours that you can see.  If you leave a comment (with a colour name), I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  usual rules apply.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Today's quiz question:  Name one of the colours that I stock in the Bazzill textured range.  There are quite a few, so enough for everyone to name ONE.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Good luck in the draw.  Usual rules apply.

Good Show!

No quiz question today - back tomorrow to continue with that.  I just wanted to say 'Thank You' so much to all the lovely people who attended the Ross Papercraft Show at Rainton Meadows, Houghton-Le-Spring, yesterday.

There was a fantastic turnout of crafters and I was overwhelmed at the number of people who stopped by my little shop to buy products or simply say 'hello'.  I wasn't expecting too much, being January (people having no money until pay-day) and the fact the day wasn't very nice, weather wise.  Anyway, they came in their droves and made the show.

A 'Thank You' too, to Terry, Mick and co. who organise these new shows - well done!  The next one is on Sunday 11th March 2012 at Nissan, Sunderland.  Hope to see you there if you live in the area.

SCHOOL TIME

This month's Scrapaholix Club Kit used the technique of resin roses and some Graphic 45 patterned papers, featuring a 'time theme'.  When I saw the patterned papers, I just knew which photographs to use and make the layouts 'School Time'.  The kit included Graphic 45 patterned papers called 'The Three R's' and 'Calico Kids' (which I also have in stock at the moment).

I used the black cardstock as the base, before using a Tando Creative Clock Mask and some Perfect Pearls Mist to create the background.  I then cut a piece of 'The Three R's' paper (used reverse side) and adhered this to the left of the layout.  I then matted the photograph onto the red card and some Graphic 45 patterned paper called 'Calico Kids' (used reverse side, which is striped).  I cut two strips of paper from the two patterned papers and added them under the photograph.  I added the resin roses, using some glossy accents to stick them to the paper and used My Mind's Eye Lush Chipboard Alphabet Stickers in black for the title.  The journal strips were made by using some Kraft cardstock, to which I added text using my computer.

This second layout is very similar.  I used the same technique to create the clock background (placing it slightly different to the previous layout) and used the opposite side of the papers.

Leave a comment on this post and (if you qualify - see rules) I will enter your name into the draw for today.  Please remember that I only count comments left on the day of the post.  Thanks for stopping by.

Prima En Francais

Another lovely collection from Prima - this time called En Francais.  This is one of those collections that will appeal to people with 'French connections', love France or just like the overall feel of these papers and flowers.  I will start with the flowers first:
These little beautys are called Perle Bebe - En Francais

There are eight different patterned papers in this range and here is a sample from the collection to whet your appetite:
Billette
Sampleur
Province

Choosing which range to stock is getting extremely difficult as there are other ranges available also from Prima this season.  No doubt, whatever range I stock that they will be popular as this manufacturer has a knack of producing some gorgeous original products that have mass appeal.  These products are expected in stock some time in February.

Let me know whether you think this range is to your taste or not.  If you leave a comment (today only) and you qualify, I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Thanks for stopping by today and good luck!

CHICAGO - here I come!

I have to say before I go any further I am talking about Chicago the musical - not the place (more's the pity!).  I am still excited at the prospect of going to see the musical though.  This treat was one of many fab presents I got for Christmas.

It's on at The Sunderland Empire in March and as you can see from the advertising the line up includes: Ali Bastian, Stefan Booth, Tupele Dorgu and Bernie Nolan.  Ali Bastian plays the part of Roxie Hart and Tupele (from Corrie) plays Velma Kelly.  Stefan Booth (Eastenders) plays the part of Billy Flynn and Bernie Nolan is Mama Norton.

I must confess that I have never seen the film, so this will be the first time I have come across the story but I cannot wait as I love live theatre.  What's the best live theatre performance you have seen?  Leave a comment on today's post (leave your comment today to qualify - see rules) and I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Thanks for stopping by.

Keys to my Heart?

Another range from Tando Creative and just in time for Valentine's Day is some fabulous chipboard pieces in the form of locks and latches and a set of 5 keys:
Locks & Latches

Set of 5 Keys

These would look great when used in conjunction with the lovely MME Love Me paper collection featured a couple of days ago.  These products are now in stock, along with the gorgeous Hearts Mask, chipboard Wings and Heart Set, Steampunk Wings and Cogs, Steampunk Clock and Hands and Clock Hands, all featured earlier this week.

I have also re-stocked the shop with other Tando masks that were previously out-of-stock and include: Bird and Branch Mask; Cogs Group Mask; Flourish Ring Mask; Harlequin Mask; Leaves Mask, Random Circles Mask and Sequin Waste Mask.  These are all popular products and sell really well (especially at the Craft Shows).  If you want one, you need to be quick as there is the first show of the year next week.

Leave a comment on today's post (and if you qualify) I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Thanks for stopping by.

Prima New Releases - Almanac

Prima have some absolutely fabulous ranges coming out soon.  One that I think will be a massive hit is their range called 'Almanac', which is on the lines of the Printery Collection that was so popular last season.  It is described as "A Prima artist stack of double-sided cardstock papers, impressions selected from a Victorian Era Printmaker's Library of etching plates".
Almanac Edison

Almanac Toile

This is just a couple of the gorgeous images they have to show - there are more!!!  What I wanted to show you was this:

Wood Buttons

I just love those little clock faces amongst those wood buttons!  I think 'Time' is a theme here again (as I was talking about yesterday) and it is so now!

I will be stocking this Prima Collection soon and will let you know when it is available.  What do you think of this paper collection?  Is it your type of thing?  Leave a comment to let me know and I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Rules apply - please ensure that you are a follower and that you leave your comment on the SAME DAY as this blog to qualify.  Thanks for stopping by today.

TIME please!

I love the theme of clocks on layouts as they represent an array of 'time periods', either present, past or visions for the future.  It's what scrapbooking is all about really - capturing moments in time, whether very recent past, our historical past, the present day or even what we hope to achieve in the future.  Tando Creative have some more fab chippies in this theme and when I saw them I just had to order some to share with you all.
Steampunk Clock and Hands

Clock Hands

Clock Mask

The Clock Mask has been around for a while but it is a 'timeless' piece of kit (excuse the pun!).  Added together these products would make some gorgeous layouts and cards.  The Clock Mask is already in stock and the other chipboard items will be in stock very soon - watch this space!

What period in time do you tend to scrap - present day, past photographs of your family, heritage, or perhaps all of them?  Leave a comment on this post today and if you qualify (please see rules so you don't miss out), I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Thanks for stopping by.

MME 'Love Me'

My Mind's Eye have a fabulous paper and accessories kit out for Valentine's Day aptly named 'Love Me', which I have in stock now.

The kit contains 9 sheets of 12x12 double-sided cardstock paper with a co-ordinating accessory sheet.  Plenty of product to create several Valentine's Day, wedding or girly projects.  Here are a sample of the patterned papers from the kit and the accessories sheets so you can see what's inside:
'Love Paper'

'Stamped Paper'

'Number Grid Paper'

'Accessories Sheet'

Buying kits like this may seem a bit pricey but you are actually saving money by purchasing the papers and accessories sheet together.  As there are 9 sheets of double-sided 12" x 12" patterned papers (a choice of 18 patterns!) and the co-ordinating accessory sheet, everything is in one kit to complete those lovely romantic or girly projects.

As it is coming up to Valentine's Day (and all those romantic summer weddings) I have added in some Tando Creative Valentine Symbol chipboard as an 'extra' to this kit (for no extra charge).
If you leave a comment on this post today (and you qualify - see rules), I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Thanks for stopping by.

SMILE for the camera

I am busy trying to create some new layouts for the forthcoming Ross Papercraft Show at Rainton Meadows on 22nd January and realised that I didn't have any using the fab Authentique 'Gathering' paper collection.  I always find that customers like to see the products 'made up' as it gives them more ideas on what to do when they buy the papers.  I popped over to the Authentique blog for some inspiration (you lose your mojo a bit over the festive period) and found a gorgeous layout by Cristine Redmond called 'Little Miss Smiley'.  I loved this layout so much that I actually recreated it using the same patterned papers for the matting of the photograph and the bunting.

I used Bazzill Kraft Cardstock for the base (as in the original) and added some paint effects using a paint brush and a Jennie Bowlin Paint Dabber (Chicken Feed).  The Authentique 'Gathering' patterned papers used are Together, Flourish, Reminisce, Bloom and Harmony for the rosette.  I used string for the banner as I didn't have any twine in a suitable colour.  The buttons are from my own stash (from years ago!) and the title is made from American Crafts Thickers and Authentique Petite Type Square alphas in green.

If your mojo is in a rut why not try scraplifting. If you are uploading it to any blog, please give the original designer the recognition.  To see the original version of this layout, pop over to the Authentique blog - you will find the layout in the gallery. If you leave a comment (see rules) I will enter your name into the blog candy draw for today.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Christmas Dinner

After creating the layout Santa's Little Helper the other day I decided to use some of the left over pieces of patterned paper to make another layout.

This is another Christmas themed layout using photos taken a few years ago.  I used Authentique 'Wonder' range of patterned papers for the background (which I gutted, so not to waste any paper) and added strips left over from the previous layout.  The chipboard sentiments are from Fabscraps but they co-ordinate beautifully with this paper range.  They are also on sale at a ridiculous price at the moment (old stock to clear).  I made the swirl on the Big Shot and added Prima flowers.  Another fairly simple layout to add to the massive amount I already have!

If you leave a comment on this (and you qualify - see rules), I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  You have plenty of time to keep popping back as the draw doesn't take place until 1st March 2012.  Best of luck to you all and thanks for stopping by.

In print again!

I have been lucky enough to have another one of my layouts printed in The Scrapbook Magazine.  This time I scraplifted a layout from a previous edition and sent it in to the Editor.  I was extremely surprised to have another layout printed in the magazine - fame at last! (only joking!).

This is the page from Issue 60 of the magazine (out in December 2010).  It was displayed on page 46 of the magazine along with other readers layouts.

This is a close-up of the entry I submitted.  It was quite an easy layout to scraplift and I loved the paint effect.  I used some corrugated card - torn from a cardboard box and then I just added some paint and used it as a stamp.  Why don't you try sending something that you have made to one of the craft magazines.  I did this as part of the Papercraft Qualification I was doing last year, as part of the qualification was about getting your work printed.

If you leave a comment today (and you qualify - please see rules), I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Best of luck!

Santa's Little Helper

As soon as I saw this photo Christmas card from my niece I knew that it would end up as a scrapbook page!  It is a photograph of her son's first Christmas.  I used the frame from the card as a starting point to the layout.
I used Bazzill French Vanilla cardstock as the base and added an oblong piece of Authentique Wonder collection patterned paper called 'Anticipation' (reverse side).  I then added a strip of Authentique 'Curiosity' patterned paper (used the reverse side) along the right hand side of the layout towards the bottom of the oblong piece.  I cut a circle from the 'Curiosity' patterned paper and adhered this on top.

As the photograph was already in a 'frame' from the Christmas card, I attached this on top of the patterned papers.  The chipboard sentiments are from FabScraps and the title is made from American Crafts Thickers called Jewelry Box.

A quick and easy layout to make to ease myself back into scrapbooking.  I feel I haven't done much scrapping for ages!  If you leave a comment on this post (and you qualify- please see rules so you don't miss out), I will enter your name into the blog candy draw for the lovely Martha Stewart punch around the page set.

Good luck in the draw - see you back here tomorrow.

January/February Blog Candy

Happy New Year!  I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a very 'Merry' New Year.  Another year has passed by and I suppose it is time to take stock and look back over the last year and reflect on the good and bad times and move on.  Before I get too philosophical and maudlin, I shall move on quickly to the first blog candy giveaway for 2012:
This 'punch around the page' set of Martha Stewart punches features two punches that, when used together, leave a 'Flower Box' pattern around the page.
These punch sets are popular with all crafters and it could be yours, just by leaving a comment on today's post.

I shall leave something each day for you to comment on and depending on the post, you will either get 1 entry into the draw, or maybe an extra entry for answering a question.  The rules of the draw apply and are to be found on the left of this page.

Best of luck to you all and I look forward to your daily visits.
