Beautiful Moments 6x6 Album

Those of you who regularly follow this blog will know that on the August Bank Holiday weekend I hosted a Scrapbook Day for a group of ladies and we used the Carta Bella 'Beautiful Moments' Collection Kit to create layouts and a 6" x 6" Album.

I still haven't put any photographs inside but this is what I have done so far with the album:

I have created a front cover using patterned papers and stickers from the collection kit.  The page has several layers and I used double-sided foam tape to give some dimension but the photograph doesn't show that too well.  Adding several different ribbons in co-ordinating colours, covers and adds interest to the binder rings.

In the inside cover I made a pocket from one of the patterned papers and added some little journal cards (cut from one of the papers).  I say papers but the quality is excellent and they are a very high quality (more like cardstock).

I haven't decided which photographs to add to this little album yet but I am sure I will find something suitable.  If you fancy making an album yourself using this kit - there is an offer on in The Scrapbook Garden shop - FREE 6x6 chipboard album when you buy the Carta Bella Collection Kit (while stocks last!).

Thanks for stopping by.  If you leave a comment today and you qualify, I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Best of luck.

Echo Park: Photo Freedom - Photo Sleeves

Brand new and coming to The Scrapbook Garden (due in by end of October) is this fabulously easy way system to start scrapbooking!  Even if you are a hardened scrapper - this will appeal to you for the days when you just want to do some really quick layouts!

The system is called 'Photo Freedom' and it's easy as 1, 2, 3!

There are various designer pages - just ready for your photographs and specially designed patterned papers.

This range is called 'Happy Little Moments' and is designed to work with the Designer Photo Sleeves for easy, peasy layouts!

This range is a great idea for those crafters who want to start scrapbooking but feel a little daunted about the whole thing.  Even if you have been scrapping for ages, I can see that these Designer Photo Sleeves, with co-ordinating patterned papers will appeal - especially if you are working to a deadline to finish off that promised album!

These are due in stock (hopefully) by the end of October and would make a fab present for that crafty friend who may have everything!  Why not treat yourself as well!

Sister Birthday Card

Following on from the little Tando Creative Handbag I made and posted about the other day ... I have made a card to match!

Using patterned papers from Glitz Design Cashmere Dame range, I chose the reverse side of Cherries (which is red), layered this up with a piece of the Cherries patterned paper and then Gingham paper.

I made a pinwheel using the template I have used on previous projects (bought a few years ago from Lakeland, when they used to sell crafts), with some of the Cherries patterned paper and made a co-ordinating brad from the centre using a large metal brad and some of the Gingham patterned paper.

The Female Sentiments are from Kanban, which I layered onto some of the plain side of the patterned paper.

Caution! (Man at) Work

When I first saw the new Prima Craftsman range I knew that I wanted to use these patterned papers for a male layout as the designs are just perfect for that.  I knew that somewhere I would find the right photograph - and after going through the mountain of photographs I have I found the perfect ones!

I wanted to keep the layout fairly simple as I didn't want to distract from the photographs.  I used a grey card for the base and layered this up with a square of Prima Craftsman 'Draftsman' (used the reverse side).  I then used the reverse side of 'Gear Up' for layering on top of this patterned paper.

I used a Tim Holtz Sanding Grip to distress the edges of all the patterned papers before inking the edges.  I inked up a Tando Creative chipboard cog (Heart Cog Mix) and added some metal coloured brads as embellishments.  The title is made from MME Lush chipboard alphabet stickers and Prima Tiny Alphabet Stickers.

My latest little Tando Handbag!

As it is showtime again (Ross Papercraft Show) on Sunday I had an excuse (do I really need one?) to make another little Tando Creative chipboard handbag using some of the lovely new Glitz Design Cashmere Dame patterned papers.

For this little beauty I used Cashmere Dame 'Gingham' for the main part of the handbag.  For the black handles I just inked the chipboard using an ink pad - it is so easy to cover!  The little cherry banners were cut from the 'Gingham' patterned paper and added as an embellishment.  I made a pinwheel out of some left over Cashmere Dame 'Cherries' patterned paper I had from a layout I made previously.  The pinwheel centre is handmade from a large silver coloured brad that I covered with some of the 'Gingham' patterned paper then added some Glossy Accents.  I added some little black bows to the handles to finish.

I always enjoy making these little handbags and I usually have homes lined up for them after the shows are over.  You could call these handbags my craft 'guilty pleasure' as I love making them!  Do you have a 'craft guilty pleasure' - something you enjoy making, over and over?  Leave a comment to let me know and I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Rules apply.  Thanks for stopping by.

Cuckoo Clock

I made this Cuckoo Clock a few weeks ago using the fab Tando chipboard Cuckoo Clock kit that includes the laser-cut chipboard shapes, clock mechanism and hands (battery not included).

I was inspired by the clock made by Jean Hardy of Crafty Individuals, so I thought I would try my hand at making one.  I showcased it at the last Ross Papercraft Show at Nissan, Sunderland last month and actually ran out of stock as they were so popular!

I used Authentique patterned papers along with a selection of Crafty Individuals' stamps. The clock face is made with the perfectly co-ordinated Crafty Individual clock face stamp (CI-352), which just adds that finishing touch.

I have also made one of the fab Tando Creative Printer Tray Style Clocks that will feature in a future blog post - watch out for that one!

'50s Babes

The title of this layout refers to the decade in which the young girls in the photograph were born, rather than what 'babes' may mean now!

As soon as I saw the Glitz Design Cashmere Dame range I knew what photograph I would use as it definitely has a '50s vibe to it.  Using Cashmere Dame 'Gingham' as the base I layered up using Cashmere Dame 'Cherries' (used both sides) and then added a piece of Cashmere Dame 'Chevron' (reverse side is a blue stripe).

The photograph was matted on a piece of Bazzill Believe 'Chimney Dust' as the black/white gingham co-ordinated well with this range and gave a bit of contrast.  I made three banner shapes using the Cashmere Dame patterned papers as well as making two pinwheels using a template I have had for a number of years (bought from Lakeland when they sold crafts).  I added a large brad into the centre of each one and used some Christmas (red and white striped) twine to connect the two pinwheels by threading through the red paper at one side.

I enjoyed creating this layout as the papers are fun and quirky but they work for the photograph.  I think this paper range would work well with more modern photographs as well - watch this blog for that one!

If you leave a comment today (see rules) I will enter your name into the draw for your chance to win 'Five Fab' products.  Thanks for stopping by.

Remember the She Ra Castle?

This photograph was taken when my youngest daughter was 7 years old.  There is a story around this photograph, which I have added on the journal card (tucked under the photo).

I used Bazzill Kraft cardstock as the base and layered this up with Bazzill  Ruby Slipper cardstock, using Bazzill Believe patterned papers called 'Kraft Wrap' (reverse side of Believe) and 'Countdown to Christmas' as the patterned papers.  The tag shapes at the top right hand side were made using Believe 'Burlap Ticking' patterned paper.

The Christmas Tree embellishment I made by using a Bazzill Chipboard Tag and covering it with Bazzill Believe 'Christmas Dress' patterned paper.  I added a little bow and some pearls to the tree before adding a selection of buttons from the Dovecraft 'Back to Basics Christmas - Vintage'.  The title is made from small letters from the Prima Tiny Alphabet Sticker sheet that I have used on loads of layouts.

This is what the story behind the photograph is about.

Design Team: Yawner

For her final layout using this months Design Team Kit, Jules has created this beautiful layout featuring one of her equally beautiful cats, using Fancy Pants Country Boutique patterned papers, Banner Die-cuts and corrugated card from the kit.

Using the reverse of the Country Bracket patterned paper as the mat for her photograph, Jules has also added some of the Banner Die-cuts to embellish the layout.

Jules has used a heart punch and a piece of the corrugated card to create two lots of embellishments from the same card - great idea!  More information on how Jules has put this layout together can be found on her blog at www.scrappingmojo.blogspot.com

If you leave Jules a comment on this post today (and you qualify) I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Remember, there are 'Five Fab' products up for grabs this time.  Thanks for stopping by.

Design Team member Jules Dix has created this fab layout using the DT kit for this month, which consists of Fancy Pants Country Boutique patterned papers, Banner Die-cuts and corrugated card.

Adding ink splatters to her base cardstock, Jules has then added some of the Banner Die-cuts, along with some of the Poppy patterned paper and made a banner shape using the corrugated card.

Jules added some wood veneer stars and chipboard alphabets from her own stash to complete.  Further details can be found on Jules' blog at www.scrappingmojo.blogspot.com

Design Team: Sometimes I Sits

The first of three layouts this month from Design Team member Jules Dix.  Using the DT kit of Fancy Pants Country Boutique patterned papers - Poppy and Country Bracket, Banner Die-cuts and Corrugated card Jules created this lovely layout featuring Mojo her gorgeous dog.

Using Kraft cardstock as a base Jules trimmed the bracket shape from the Country Bracket patterned paper, layering this up with a strip of the Poppy patterned paper on which she used a border punch on each side of the strip.

Jules added a strip of the corrugated card across the middle of the Poppy paper before layering over her photograph of Mojo.  The butterflies are punched from the corrugated card, which have been stapled in the centre.  Further details can be found on Jules' blog at www.scrappingmojo.blogspot.com

Bazzill Matchmaker

I am probably telling you something you already know but just in case here goes.  There is a site called Bazzill Matchmaker that does just that - matches all the colours of Bazzill cardstock to most of the major paper manufacturers .. so making the choice easier when looking for cardstock for your cards and layouts.

Give this site a go the next time you are looking for Bazzill cardstock colour matches.  I use it all the time now when putting together the Design Team monthly kits.  It saves hours of looking at website images and saves money in the long run by getting a better colour match first time.

Do you use this site?  Leave a comment to let me know if it has helped you get better colour matches for your projects.  For every comment left I will enter your name into the blog candy draw for your chance to win the 'Fab Five' products up for grabs.  Rules of entry apply.  Best of luck.

Sweet Girl of Mine

I used this month's Design Team Kit of Fancy Pants Country bracket patterned papers, Die-Cut Banners and Corrugate card along with another sheet of patterned paper from the same range called 'Loved' to create this layout.

Using Bazzill Blackbird cardstock as the base I layered this up with Bazzill Avalanche cardstock and then the 'Loved' paper (I used the reverse side) and added some faux stitching around the edge of the patterned paper.  Using the (gutted piece) of Poppy patterned paper, I used a template to create the scalloped edge to the right hand side of the paper.  The photograph was matted onto this patterned paper (to the left hand side) and the title was added using Prima Tiny Alphabet Stickers (partially on the photograph).

I added a Banner Die-cut to the top right hand side of the layout (added some faux stitching) and adhered using some double-sided foam tape.  The black swirls and butterfly are 'Feltables' embellishments to which I added some paper flowers and gem centres from my own stash.

I created the heart shape by drawing around a chipboard heart using the Kraft cardstock and painting it white as in my previous layout.  The name was added using MME Chipboard Alphabet Stickers and the heart 'tied' to the layout using some white fibres from my stash.

If you leave a comment on this post today (and you qualify - see rules) I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Thank you for stopping by.

Two Hearts

This is the second layout using this month's Design Team Kit of Fancy Pants Country Boutique patterned papers Poppy and Country Bracket, along with Country Boutique Banner die-cuts and Kraft Corrugate Sheet.

For this layout I used Bazzill Blackbird cardstock for the base and layered this up with the Poppy patterned paper (gutted out the centre to use on another layout).  Using a Crafter's Workshop Template and Bazzill cardstock in Fig Swirl, I drew around and cut out the shape and then inked the edging pattern onto the cut-out shape before adhering it to the layered cardstock and patterned paper.

The photograph was matted onto some Bazzill Blackbird cardstock and some of the small Banner Die-cuts added underneath before adhering to the page.  I used some of the Banner Die-cuts at the bottom edge of the photograph to make a banner to which I added some Ivory Pearl Hearts.

I punched two hearts from the corrugate sheet and (using the Die-cut sheet as a template) made a banner shape from the corrugate sheet also.  I gave these a white-washed effect finish by using some white acrylic paint to which I added some water.  Once dry I adhered the two hearts to the layout and tied them together with some white fibres from my stash.  I added part of the title to the white banner using letters from Prima Tiny Alphabet Sticker sheet.  The other letters in the title are made from MME Chipboard Alphabet Stickers.

If you leave a comment on this post (today only) I will enter your name into the blog candy draw (see rules to qualify).  Best of luck!

LOVE those Eyes

This month's Design Team Kit contains the lovely Fancy Pants Country Boutique patterned papers called Poppy and Country Bracket, along with Country Boutique Banner Cuts and Kraft Corrugate Sheet, also from the same range.

For this first layout I used the Country Boutique Country Bracket patterned paper (cut a little from two sides of the paper) and layered this onto Bazzill Blackbird cardstock (gutted the centre out first).  I matted the photo onto some of the (gutted) Blackbird cardstock and added a selection of banner cuts from the die-cut sheet (layered slightly) under the photograph.  I adhered the photograph to the layout using double sided tape to raise it slightly.

I added another three banner cuts to add to the top right hand side of the layout.  I punched three hearts from the Kraft Corrugate Sheet adhered them to the layout and then used string to tie them to the page.

All that was left to do was add some black gems to the printed flower centres and add the title using a combination of American Craft DIY Thickers (inked black) and Prima Tiny Alphabet Stickers.  A fairly easy layout to create but very effective with lots of details.

Leave a comment on this post today (and if you qualify - see rules) I will enter your name into the blog candy draw for the chance to win those 'Fab Five' goodies.  Thanks for stopping by.

Sweet Heart

As part of the Diploma in Professional Crafting that I am doing at the moment, I had to think of a way of using a craft product in a different way and then use it to create something with that idea.

I decided to use Nitwits Collections Essentials 'Butterfly Kisses Toppers and Decoupage sheets instead of using patterned papers for my layout.

I used Bazzill Avalanche cardstock for the base and layered this up using Bazzill Dotted Swiss Scalloped cardstock in 'Ballet', which co-ordinates with the Butterfly Kisses range of Toppers and Decoupage sheets.  I added extra holes in each scallop to show the white cardstock underneath and some tiny little hearts punched from a small punch I had in my stash.

I layered up the Butterfly Kisses Decoupage pieces to make the 'Sweet Heart' title and used the decorative floral strip from the Butterfly kisses Toppers sheet along the bottom edge of the photograph to 'frame' the image.  As the Toppers and Decoupage sheets were already glittered there was no need to add any other embellishments.

A simple layout but I love the finished effect - what do you think?  Have you ever used card toppers or decoupage sheets for your layouts?  Leave a comment to let me know.  If you qualify I will enter your name into the blog candy draw for your chance to win the 'Fab Five' products up for grabs.  Best of luck everyone.

My Handbag Obsession

This layout was created to showcase my (little) obsession with those fab Tando Creative chipboard handbags!

I used a Tando Creative chipboard handbag to draw around for the shape of the bag and I made a hinge so that it opens out to reveal photographs of the little chipboard handbags that I have created.

I used Delish Design patterned papers for the handbag and for the background paper.  I started by using Bazzill Blackbird cardstock for the base, layered this up with a sheet of Delish Design 'Main Dish' patterned paper.  I cut some Bazzill Avalanche cardstock (using a template) then inked around the outside using the same template.

The front of the handbag is decorated using Delish Design 'Buffet' (reverse side), which I decorated with some Bazzill Pom Pom Trim.  I added a rosette with some Bazzill Tulle Ribbon and decorative pins.  I added some little black ribbon bows to either side of the handles to finish.  The tabs on the side of the bag are sticker quotes from Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type in Black.  The title is made from MME chipboard alphabet stickers and Prima Tiny Alphabet Stickers.

If you leave a comment on this post (today only) and you are a follower of this blog, I will enter your name into the Blog Candy draw for your chance to win the 'Fab Five' products up for grabs in the draw.  Best of luck!
