Design Team Kits - Review of 2012

Another year nearly over!  I thought I would take some time to review the Design Team Kits for this year (or from June when I started putting together my own monthly kits).

In June we had Glitz Design 'French Kiss' patterned papers, Vanilla Cream, Haley and Black Cardstock and a Rich Cocoa Dye Ink Pad.  The technique was using Personal Impressions Canvas Sheets.  This is one layout I made with that kit:

In July we had Bazzill 'Vintage Marketplace' patterned papers, Sugar Cream, Lime Crush and Frosted Teal Cardstock.  The technique was using co-ordinating Journal Cards and Stickers.  This is one layout I made with that kit:

In August we had Graphic45 'Olde Curiosity Shoppe' patterned papers, Raven, Sugar Cream and Lagoon Cardstock.  The technique this month was using one of the brand new Ranger Distress Pens.  This is one layout I made with that kit:

In September we had Fancy Pants 'Country Boutique' patterned papers, Fig Swirl, Blackbird and Walnut Cream Cardstock.  The technique was Banner Die-cuts and Corrugated Card from the same range.  This is one layout I made with that kit:

In October we had Teresa Collins 'Vintage Finds' patterned papers with Walnut Cream, Coal, Cheddar and Tawny Cardstock.  The technique was using Twine (from the Teresa Collins Vintage Finds Trims).  This is one layout I made with that kit:

Finally in November we had Glitz Design 'Yours Truly' patterned papers, Maraschino, Vanilla Cream and Admiral Cardstock.  The technique this month was using Washi Tape from the same range.  This is one layout I made with that kit:

I think the first in June was probably my favourite out of the ones listed here as I loved using the Canvas Sheets.  What has been your favourite product or patterned paper range for this year?  Leave a comment to let me know and you will be entered into the draw for the blog candy (rules apply).

The Blog Candy Draw will take place tomorrow.  Best of luck everyone!

Calendar 2013: September

I haven't had much time to create pages for my 2013 calendar recently but I took some time out yesterday to design this page for September.

Using Glitz Design 'Cashmere Dame' Cherries (reverse side) as the background, I layered this up with a piece of Glitz Design 'Cashmere Dame' Gingham (reverse side).  I matted the photograph onto some Gingham patterned paper and added some banners cut out from the Cherries patterned paper.

I added a circle of Gingham patterned paper and added the numbers '60' using some Glitter Alphabets.  The title 'Age is just a no.' was made from the same Glittered Alphabets and rub-ons from my own stash.

I added a strip of 'Cherries' patterned paper across the bottom of the calendar to give a co-ordinated look.  I have added minimum embellishments so that the calendar doesn't end up too bulky when completed.

If you leave a comment (and are a follower of this blog) I will enter your name into the draw for the blog candy. The draw will take place on Christmas Eve - good luck everyone!

Winter CHA 2013:TCW

The Crafter's Workshop have released another 'sneaky peek' of one of their stencils - this time designer Ronda Palazzari has  been using 'Kaleidoscope and you can see this here.

I love using masks/stencils to create backgrounds for my scrapbook pages or for drawing around and cutting out the ornate shape.  Another of my favourites from TCW is the fab Mariposas Stencil:

This is what I did with this Stencil on a layout in the Summer:

I used the Stencil, ink pad and ink tool to get the butterflies and dragonflies as my background.

I am looking forward to other TCW stencils being released in 2013 as they are a fabulous product and can be used for a load of different projects.  I will keep you up to date with any new releases.

Layout Published!

Very happy that I have had one of my layouts published in Scrapbook Magazine this month (Issue 69), page 48 in 'Your Layouts' section.

I scraplifted a layout from a previous magazine sketch and sent it in (via email) to the magazine and was lucky enough for it to be published.

I called it '(Trainee) Dog Walker and here is the original:

Have you ever entered any layouts or cards into competitions or to a magazine?  Leave a comment to let me know and I will enter your name into the draw for the blog candy.  Thank you for taking time to stop by.

TCW: CHA 2013 New releases

Look what The Crafter's Workshop have come up with for 2013!  A fabulous range of templates called 'Urban Landscape and Subway'.  View them here.

One of my all time favourite templates from TCW is this one:

Trendy Bracket
I have used this template many times, to draw around and cut out the shape as well as ink around the template using distress inks, which makes a lovely background.  Here is one I made a few years ago using this template and an ink pad:

Do you use templates or stencils?  If you do, which ones are a favourite?  Leave a comment to let me know and I will enter your name into the blog candy draw (see rules to apply).  Thanks for stopping by.

Echo Park: Oh Snap

This is definitely one of my favourites from the brand new Echo Park Mini Themes due out next year.  Obviously they have been working hard over at Echo Park to be releasing such an array of products for sale in January/February.

I can't wait to see what the other manufacturer's come up with for CHA 2013.  In the meantime you can view 'Oh Snap' here.

If you pop over and have a look, come back and give me your views on this range and I will enter your name into the draw for the blog candy.  Thanks for stopping by today.

CHA Sneak Peeks: Echo Park

It's coming up to that time of the year again - the Craft and Hobby Association aka CHA that showcases all the fabulous new ranges from papercraft manufacturers.  Usually, nothing is revealed until January and then only in little snippets - but this time Echo Park have unveiled their new lines for you all to see.

First up is 'Scoot' - described as a "charming little boy collection that includes whimsical and playful images with rich colours."  You can view the collection here.

The second range is 'Photo Freedom Volume 1' - described as "a collection of essential title and journaling cards, patterned paper, stickers and elements."  You can view the collection here.

Next up is 'Sweet Girl' - described as "vintage images, pie-charts, stencil letters and little girl images."  You can view the collection here.

'All about a Boy' is a collection described as having images of "mazes and gears with a slightly distressed, worn look."  You can view the collection here.

This is just one manufacturer - and they haven't finished yet.  I will give you more updates and links, as and when I get them.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Leave a comment on what ranges suit your style best and I will enter your name into the blog candy draw (see rules to qualify).

25th December

This is the second layout that I have previously shown as a sneaky peek.  I used patterned papers from the fab Teresa Collins Christmas Cottage Kit.

I used 'Medallion' Patterned paper (reverse side) as the base and added a strip of Bazzill Ivy cardstock across the middle, adding faux stitching around the outside edge of the layout.

I used two photographs that were taken with a Polaroid camera, hence the white border.  The photo's were added to the layout on a mat of Red Snowflakes patterned paper (reverse side) and some of the banner shapes from the accessories sheet.  I made the Christmas trees from some of the banner shapes, adding some gems to complete.

The title was made by creating a 4" circle (cut in half), to which I added 25th in American Crafts Thickers and the 'December' is a sentiment from the accessories sheet, which is included in the collection kit.

I really enjoyed using this kit as the colours were more suited to some of my older photographs.  I had a lovely trip down memory lane making up the layouts!

Thanks for stopping by today.  If you leave a comment I will enter your name into the draw for the blog candy (see rules).

Presents from Santa

A couple of weeks ago I showed a sneaky peek from a layout I had created for a Christmas Scrapbooking Day I am hosting at a local hurch Hall today.  Well here is the full reveal:

Using patterned papers from the Teresa Collins Christmas Cottage kit and Bazzill Pomegranate cardstock as the base, I created this layout of my youngest daughter on Christmas Day 28 years ago!

The 'Cheer Bingo Card', date and journal spot are all from the accessories sheet included in the kit.  The banner is made from a selection of 'Banner Shapes' also from the accessories sheet.  I used twine from the Teresa Collins Christmas Cottage Trims pack to join the banner shapes together across the bottom of the matted photograph.

The title is made from a combination of rub-ons, Cosmo Cricket Tiny Type Stickers and American Crafts Felt ThickersA fairly easy layout to complete as all of the elements co-ordinate - makes life so much easier!

Thanks for stopping by today.  Leave a comment (and if you qualify) I will enter your name into the draw for the blog candy.

Calendar 2013: October

As October is traditionally known for Halloween, I thought I would use this photograph (I have previously used in a 12x12 layout) to be the focus for this month.

I used Bazzill Blackbird as the background and layered this with off-cuts of Teresa Collins Vintage Finds patterned papers.

I used a Tando Creative large Pumpkin to draw around, backed the shape with Blackbird cardstock and adhered using double-sided foam tape.  This is the less bulky option than using the original chipboard shape.  For the title I used some left-over sparkly letters - using asterisk for the word spook!

Leave a comment today and your name will be entered into the blog candy draw (see ruly).  Thanks for stopping by today.
