Look back over past year #4

The final look back at the Mad Scrappers Club Kits for 2013.  October's Kit consisted of fab patterned papers from Teresa Collins called 'Memorabilia', with Corsage Pins (from the same range) and an American Crafts White Pen:

I created this layout using these products:

In November, the brand new range from Prima called 'The Optimist' was the paper choice for our kit along with the equally brand new 'Chalk Flowers and Leaves' as the technique:

I loved this layout from Beryl, one of our Club Members:

November was also the month I hosted the 'Christmas Advent Workshop', where a number of the ladies created one of those fab Tando Creative Advents.  This is one Sue created:
In real life it is so sparkly and very Christmassy!

We had a break during December (so much to do, so little time .....) and we start all over again on 8th January 2014 (the first club night).

Thanks for sharing my look back at 2013 with the Mad Scrappers Club.  I hope you will continue to pop by to see what we get up to in the New Year.  We have another member joining us in January and I will continue to share the kits and layouts on the blog with you.  Thanks for stopping by today.  I will be back on 2nd January 2014 with the blog candy winner and the next blog candy giveaway.  See you then.

Look back over past year #3

The third quarter of the year saw more techniques introduced as well as using bang on trend paper supplies.  In July I went for Basic Grey 'Mint Julep' as the kit paper choice along with a Tando Creative 6x6 Template as the technique:

This is a layout I created of my Granddaughter's 18th Birthday using this kit:

In July we also had to say a fond farewell to Lisa, a club member, who emigrated to New Zealand with her family.

For August's kit I decided on Fancy Pants 'What a Wonderful Day' patterned papers and chose Cork sheets and arrow shapes for the technique:

Annette (one of our club members) created this lovely layout using this month's kit:

I also hosted a 'Have a Smashing Time' Workshop in August, when ladies from the Mad Scrappers Club created fabulous pages with a Fancy Pants Brag Book.

Julia, a Club Member, created this beautiful cover for her Brag Book:

September saw the start of another club night (every fourth Wednesday of the month) with 6 new ladies joining and 5 ladies from the first club night moving to join them.  The September kit contained patterned papers from MME Kate and Co - Oxford Lane range.  The technique was stamping on acetate with a Stazon Midi Ink Pad:

Eileen, one of new members, created this lovely layout using the stamping on acetate technique very effectively:

I will be back tomorrow with the final look at the Mad Scrappers Club during 2013.  Join me then.  In the meantime, feel free to leave a comment.  Thanks for stopping by.

Look back over past year #2

April, May and June Mad Scrappers Kits contained some new products for the club members, along with brand new paper releases from some of the major design manufacturers.

April kicked off the next quarter with a very popular kit that featured Glitz Design 'Uncharted Waters' patterned papers, along with one of their fab Tiny Roller Doodles (Arrows):

Brenda B, one of our club members created this layout using the kit:

In May, the Mad Scrappers Kit consisted of patterned papers from the fabulous Teresa Collins called 'Stationery Noted', along with the Decorative Buttons from the same range:

I created this layout called 'Lets Dance' using this kit:

We also had a Scrapbook Saturday during May, where some of our members made a Tando Creative Clock.  This is one Joanne created:

Finally, in June we had our 1st Birthday party, where we sadly said goodbye to Paulette (an original member), who left to live in another part of the country.  The kit for this month was Bo Bunny 'Mama-Razzi2', along with Prima Wood Icons (cameras) and a Prima Chalk Edger:

Linda L (one of our club ladies), created this layout using this kit:

So ends another quarter of looking back over the past year.  I am sure you will have some favourite kits and layouts in this section - just leave a comment to let me know.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Look back over past year #1

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas (peace on Earth and all that!).  This time of year I like to have a look back on what we have achieved during the past year at our Mad Scrappers Club.

We started in January with a kit that consisted of Echo Park 'For the Record2 - Documented' patterned papers.  The technique was using a Ranger Paint Dabber in Snowcap:

This is one of the layouts I created using this kit - it's called 'The Nativity':

In February the Mad Scrappers Kit consisted of patterned papers from Fancy Pants 'The Good Life' range, along with a Ranger Distress Ink Pad (Peacock Feathers):

Jules Dix (a previous DT Member) created this layout for us called 'Let it Snow':

March Mad Scrappers kit saw us using fab patterned papers from Prima 'Engraver' range, along with Prima Tiny Alphabet Stickers:

I created this layout for club members to use as inspiration or even scraplift:

And finally in March we had one of our popular Scrapbook Workshops, where we created with a Basically Bare Chipboard Album and created a Travel Journal:

Doesn't it look a lot when shown all together like this - and this is only the first 3 months.  I know some of the ladies from the Mad Scrappers Club stop by now and then - please let me know what you thought of these kits by leaving a comment.  Everyone else can leave a comment too.  Thanks for stopping by today.  I will be back tomorrow with the look back for April, May and June.  See you then.

Christmas Elizabethan Banquet

The ladies from the Mad Scrappers Club went to Lumley Castle on Wednesday night for their Christmas night out.  We dined in the Great Baronial Hall on a four course feast with wine, mead and entertainment by the Lords and Ladies of the Court of Lumley.

A photograph of some of the ladies enjoying their night out.

The menu consisted of Barons Brose (vegetable broth), Succulent Spare Ribs (pork ribs cooked in a red wine and herb sauce), Checkyn in Mead (chicken seasoned in honey and mace) with jacket potato and mixed salad and to finish a Christmas Pudding.  We had to eat either with our fingers or with the aid of a knife for the main course, with exception of the Christmas Pudding, for which we were given a spoon.  The broth was eaten by 'dunk 'n suck' method - dunk the bread and suck up the broth!  That is why everyone is wearing the latest in designer bibs!

The entertainment by the Lords and Ladies of the Court of Lumley got us all in the Christmas spirit.  Thank you to everyone who attended - a great night was had by all.

Carta Bella: Sneaky Peek

Another sneaky peek today, this time from Carta Bella and it is called 'Sew Lovely'.

I know the manufacturers aren't giving much away at the moment but all will be revealed fully in the New Year after CHA 2014.

The Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) runs from 10-14 January 2014 and is being held in Anaheim, California.  It is a massive trade show as the pictures from last year testify.

Who can you spot in this photo?

These are truly amazing photographs - would love to go there one day, just for the experience of it (well one can dream!).

Anyhow, leave a comment on this post and as usual, if you are a follower, I will enter your name into the draw.  Today, as an extra entry - name any one manufacturer you can spot in the above photographs and you will get that extra entry.  Once someone has said the name, it cannot be said again.  Good luck!

Prima: Sneaky Peek #2

Today I bring you another mini sneak peek from Prima.  This one is called 'Something Blue'.

The blurb from Prima is "Something Blue is sure to get the romance swirling with its lovely colours and flirty graphics".  I do think they are being mean just showing little snippets like this!  I am sure this one will be just as gorgeous as the one I previewed yesterday.  I predict another sneaky peek on it's way!

Prima: CHA 2014 sneaky peeks

The first sneaky peek coming from CHA 2014 for Prima.  This one is called 'Stationer's Desk'.

They aren't giving much away but they state that 'Stationer's Desk' "has a rich, vintage colour palette of old-time touches sure to evoke those nostalgic memories that just warm your heart"

We'll just have to wait a bit longer for the finer details!  I will  give you more information when I find out - I love this time of year, finding out about what's coming out from CHA.  I predict though that 'foil' on papers and embellishments will be a big feature this year.  It started creeping in from the last release of patterned papers and I think it will continue.  I know that Fancy Pants have a 12x12 foil paper in their new ranges - so we will have to wait and see.

Anyone fancy making a prediction on what other trends may emerge from CHA 2014?  Leave a comment to let me know and I will enter your name into the draw for the blog candy.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Fancy Pants Sketch & giveaway!

Over on the Fancy Pants Blog I came across this sketch that I think would be perfect for scrapping your Christmas layouts!

The designer on the blog (Julie Bonner) used Fancy Pants Timbergrove and Merry Little Christmas from the Fancy Pants ranges but I think it would work with any other Christmas/Winter themed papers (try the Prima Holiday Jubilee) range.  There is also a Christmas card using the same sketch.  Finally, there is a giveaway - you can enter into it HERE.

Thanks for stopping by today.  I hope your Christmas preparations are going well and that you are not too stressed out.  After all, it is only one day!  Leave a comment to let me know how your preps are going or to comment on the sketch and I will enter your name into the draw for the blog candy if you are a follower.
