This is the Collection pack, which has 9 sheets of 12x12 double-sided textured cardstock paper and a 12x12 double-sided die-cut cardstock accessories sheet.

I love the colour combinations of this one, which includes some chalkboard effect patterns - bang on trend!  It's a very exciting time at the minute as all the new stocks are starting to filter through from CHA and will be hitting the shelves SOON!  Keep popping back for updates.

Brag Book: 60th Birthday

I have completed some more pages of my Fancy Pants Brag Book and thought I would share with you what I have created for my DH 60th Birthday in January.

I used a clock stamp for the first page and included 'time' related sayings around the outside.

On the second page I added a cork shaped arrow, rub-ons, die-cut shapes and a journal card - tucked under the photograph.

On this page I used a Tando Creative Dotted Star Mask using Distress Ink and die-cut shapes to create my own design on the Kraft page.  The Kraft paper is the perfect background to create your own designs.

I added some smaller photographs, rub-ons and die-cuts to create this final page.

Obviously, this Brag Book is a work in progress and I love the way I can just dip in and out and create whatever pages I want.  This Brag Book is perfect for those crafter's who like to create their own background pages and want to add some 'art work' of their own to make this a truly personal journal.

Details of the Fancy Pants Brag Book can be found here and the die-cut sheets (part of a paper collection) can be found here.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Please leave a comment so that I know you have passed by this way.

Brag Book: Bergen, Norway

Another couple of pages from my Brag Book - this time from Bergen.  Another rainy day (such a shame) as it was a beautiful place to visit.  We walked into the town centre from the ships berth.

I added a map, journal card and card from the department store we stopped at to the calendar pocket.  I added the number 4 to signify the 4th Port visit and final stopping place on our cruise.

I added the date using a date stamp that I found in Wilkinsons a while back (it pays to check out the stationery aisles in some bigger shops for craft items).

The photographs in the photo sleeves are of Bryggen (UNESSCO Site) and of Bergen Town Centre.  Bryggen, also known as Tyskebryggen is a series of Hanseatic commercial buildings lining the eastern side of the fjord coming into Bergen.  Bryggen has since 1979 been on the UNESCO list for World Cultural Heritage sites.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Please leave a comment so that I know you have passed by this way.

Brag Book: Alesund, Norway

Just a couple more completed pages from my Brag Book.  It is difficult choosing which photographs to include as I have quite a few (even though it rained most days!).

Our visit to Alesund was a bit soggy!  Never-the-less it was still a lovely place to stop and have a look around.  Unlike us (lol) we found a lovely little coffee shop called 'Pikekyss' and had a latte and a delicious chocolate chip cookie!  I have added a map, journal card, card from the coffee shop and some receipts to the calendar pocket.

This little Troll was sitting outside a shop beside the port and I had to take a photo!  I just added the word Troll and some Prima Arrowheads to add some decoration to this page, along with some Washi Tape across the edges of the postcard above it.

I have completed another couple of pages and will post those tomorrow.  Thanks for stopping by.

Prima: Wood & Bark

Just thought you would like to see a sneaky peek of some Prima lovelies coming from CHA this Summer:

I especially love these hearts - and have them on order (watch this space!):

These are bark products and I just love the different shades - could be used on all manner of projects!

What project would you use them on?  Wedding, New Baby, - leave a comment to let me know.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Brag Book: Holiday Pages

I have completed a couple of Brag Book pages from my recent holiday to Norway and thought you might want to see what I have created:

The first couple of pages are from Flam, Norway and include photographs from the Museum showing an old railway engine.

I used a SMASH* Calendar Pocket to keep a map of Flam, a journal card and details from the evening entertainment on the ship - all safely cocooned in it's own pocket - a great idea!

I added details to the photographs by adding some SMASH* Calendar Tape - a great way to add details and dates to photographs without adding too much bulk to the pages.

The next couple of pages are from our visit to Geiranger, where we visited the Norwegian Fjord Centre.  The weather wasn't great on this day, so I bought a couple of postcards that shows the area when it is sunny and bright.

For these pages I used another SMASH* Calendar Pocket (they are just great for keeping memorabilia together in one place) - adding a map of the area and a journal card.  I added some Washi Tape to the corners of one of the postcards to add some decoration.

I have started on another couple of pages using the Calendar Pockets to keep this section in the Brag Book looking similar in design.  Once I have completed them I will post to share with you.

This is the first time I have attempted this kind of scrapbooking style and it is so different from the usual 12x12 size that I take ages creating.  This system is really 'Smash it in' and is so quick and simple compared to the way of scrapbooking I have become accustomed to.  Still, I am enjoying the experience of doing something different.

Have you tried this SMASH* type of scrapbooking?  Leave me a comment and I will enter your name into the Blog Candy draw for this month.  Thanks for taking the time to stop by.

'Have a Smashing Time' Workshop: Update

I thought I would update you on our next Scrapbook Saturday event called 'Have a Smashing Time Workshop' on Saturday 31st August 2013.  The ladies attending the workshop will be creating with a Fancy Pants Brag Book that starts life like this:

With some self adhesive Fabric Paper (from my own stash), White and Black Lace Borders, Basically Bare chipboard Camera and Prima SIIC Arrows, I have created the front cover:

I wanted to create a Vintage style cover for 'My Journey 2013', which includes a record of my life (including some really special dates this year) starting from January until the end of December (will include Christmas).

Another view of the brag book.  At least I have made a start and what better way than to start with the cover.  There are 12 sections to the book (one section for each month of the year) and I intend to start with July as I have just returned from holiday and the memories are still vivid.  I have lots of lovely memories to record this year .. husband's 60th Birthday in January, holiday to Malta, Family Christening, Granddaughter's 18th Birthday ..... plus loads more to record.  Now I have made a start on the cover, I can start to plan out the journal for the remainder of the year and hopefully have quite a lot of it completed to show the ladies at Mad Scrappers to give them ideas for their brag books.

Starting a new project sometimes seems a bit daunting, especially as I am going back over 6 months to complete the first half of this year.  Luckily, I have a record of what has happened here on this blog and Facebook, so it won't be difficult to remember.

I will show some updates, as and when I have them completed.  Please leave a comment so that I know you have passed by this way.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Christmas Advent Kit

Yes, I know this blog title says 'Christmas Advent Kit' and it is only July!... but I need to be prepared for our Christmas Event and I wanted to run past everyone an idea I have for that day.

What would all the ladies of the Mad Scrappers Scrapbook Club think of this idea:

Obviously, this is just one idea that could be used to decorate this fab Advent countdown piece - but isn't it gorgeous!  I was thinking what about late November - an all day Saturday to make this?

Your response would be very welcome - even from those of you who cannot attend (sorry!).  Let me know by leaving a comment.

Thanks for stopping by today - please leave a comment to let me know you have passed by this way.

Scrapbook Magazine: Budget Challenge

I entered the Scrapbook Magazine's Budget Challenge recently and this was featured in this month's edition (Issue 74).  The challenge was to create three layouts using only the materials you can buy for £10, plus basics such as adhesive and scissors.  This might sound quite easy on the face of it but to someone who likes to use the BigShot die-cutting machine, this was trickier than anticipated.

The 3 layouts were created using Bo Bunny Isabella patterned papers, grey and white cardstock, Bo Bunny Isabella Sticker Sheet and some gems.

On this layout '2 today' I used some of the patterned paper to cut out a journal card to tuck behind the photograph, cut banner shapes and made some 'roses' (using an egg cup to draw around then cut into it, creating a spiral - then securing the base with some Range Glossy Accents).

On this layout 'Princess' I fussy cut the butterflies and doilies from another sheet of the Isabella patterned papers.  I created the titles for all three layouts using the alphabet stickers from the Isabella Sticker Sheet.

For the 'Gorgeous Bar Menu' I used the base of a cake tin to draw around for the circle shape.  I made my own layered embellishments using stickers and cut out shapes and I used double sided tape to give them dimension.

I created these three layouts way back in April and I have had to wait until now before I could show them.  All the patterned papers I have used in the layouts can be purchased from The Scrapbook Garden and you can find them here.

Leave a comment so that I know you have passed by this way.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Holiday photo's!

Just back from a week away - can you guess from the photo's where we have been? It was a lovely break even though the weather wasn't too kind. Glad to be back though as I couldn't get any internet connection until Thursday and didn't know what was going on!

Lovely scenery here - I think someone will guess the location before the day is out!  I will be back tomorrow and normal service will be resumed.  Missed you all!

Mad Scrappers Layouts: Anne D

Anne is one of our newest club members and she created this layout using last month's kit that consisted of Mama-Razzi2 patterned papers, co-ordinating cardstock, Prima Wood Camera Icons and Prima Chalk Ink Edger.

Anne has used journal cards from the patterned papers to add behind her matted photograph - very effective.  She has inked her Wood Camera Icon with the Chalk Ink Edger and added it to her title (contained within the Film Strip).

Lovely choice of photo -adds to the retro look of the patterned papers.  Thanks for sharing with us.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Leave a comment to be added into the draw for the blog candy (see rules).

Mad Scrappers Layouts: Beryl

Beryl created this layout using June's kit of Mama-Razzi2 patterned papers, Bazzill Cardstock in Espresso, Yam and Walnut Cream, Prima Wood Icons (cameras) and a Prima Chalk Ink Edger.

Beryl used Bazzill Espresso cardstock as the base before layering up with the Mama-razzi2 patterned papers.  She has matted her photograph onto the Bazzill Yam and Walnut Cream cardstock, added her title and some of those fab Prima Wood Icon Cameras, which have been inked with the Chalk Ink Edger.

Beryl has used the die-cut Film Strip to add the place and date of the photograph - great idea.  Another lovely example on how to use this kit.  Thanks for sharing with us Beryl.

Mad Scrappers Layouts: Linda L

Using June's Scrapbook Kit of Mama Razzi2 patterned papers, co-ordinating cardstock and Prima Wood Icons (cameras) and Chalk Ink Edger, Linda created this lovely layout.

Another idea on how to use the kit this time incorporating photographs into the negative piece of patterned paper - very effective!  Linda has chosen well with her photographs and they suit the versatility of these patterned papers.  Thanks for sharing with us.

Mad Scrappers Layouts: Christine

Christine created this layout using June's scrapbook kit of Bo Bunny Mama Razzi2 patterned papers, Bazzill cardstock colours of Espresso, Walnut Cream and Yam.  The technique for June was using Prima Wood Icons (cameras) and a Prima Chalk Ink Edger.

The patterned papers have a very retro look and goes perfectly with the photographs that Christine has used.  The colour ways are definitely 70's with the Espresso and Yam being very in vogue as the colour trend of that era.  Christine has managed to incorporate 3 lovely photographs within her layout very effectively.  Thanks for sharing with us Christine.

Mad Scrappers Layouts: Linda P

Today it is the turn of Linda P to showcase what she has created with this month's scrapbook kit.  The kit consists of Basic Grey 'Mint Julep' patterned papers - Elaine, Alvina and Carolina and Bazzill cardstock in Blossom, Espresso and Cream Puff.  The technique this month is a Tando Creative 6x6 Dotted Star Mask.

Linda has used Bazzill Espresso cardstock as the base and layered this up with pieces of patterned paper and Blossom cardstock.  She has used the Mask to add the corner detail very effectively, adding some gems - great idea!

Linda has used an adorable photograph and added banner pieces to the side and added some bling.  I love the sentiment you have added Linda - very apt.  Another truly lovely idea on using this month's kit.  Thanks for sharing Linda.

If you leave a comment on this post today and you follow this blog, I will enter your name into the draw for this month.  Tomorrow I have a layout from June's kit created by Christine - pop back then to see that. Thanks for stopping by.

Mad Scrappers Layouts: Julia

This month Julia has created this lovely layout using the Basic Grey 'Mint Julep' patterned papers, co-ordinating cardstock and Mask from the Mad Scrappers Scrapbook Kit for July.

These Basic Grey patterned papers have a lovely vintage feel about them and this image fits the bill perfectly.  Julia has used the Dotted Star Mask to add the corner design and has added flowers and memorabilia to complete the layout.

Another lovely idea on how to use this month's kit.  The Bazzill Cream Puff cardstock paired with the Espresso cardstock make a lovely balance for the patterned papers.  Thanks for sharing with us Julia.

Shelagh created this lovely layout adding the corner dots and the dotted star using the Dotted Star Mask.  She has added her own little touches that make this layout truly lovely.  A beautiful 'new baby and proud Grandparents' photograph to finish.  Looking forward to seeing more of your work in forthcoming months.  Thanks for sharing with us Shelagh.

Celebrate

This is the second reveal of the sneaky peeks I showed you the other day using this month's scrapbook kit of Basic Grey Mint Julep patterned papers.  The kit also included co-ordinating cardstock and a Tando Creative 6x6 dotted Star Mask.

For this layout I used Bazzill Espresso cardstock as the base and added corner patterns and star (from the Mask) using a Chalk Ink Pad.  I then layered this up with pieces of Carolina and Alvina patterned paper.  The strips at the top and bottom left of the layout are from the manufacturers strip (along the bottom of the actual paper), to which I added some banner shapes and buttons.

I added a die-cut vintage lace strip along the bottom edge of the Carolina patterned paper and added a die-cut rosette to the left hand side (both cut from Elaine patterned paper).  I added the photograph (leaving the right hand side open for the tag).  I made a journal tag from a piece of Carolina patterned paper, added eyelets and embroidery thread to finish.

I cut a small photograph of some '18' balloons into a 2" circle and added it to the centre of the star, overlapping the patterned paper slightly.  The title is made from Blossom cardstock and some co-ordinating colour cardstock from my own stash and it is cut on the Cricut to create a shadow effect.

Thanks for stopping by today - if you leave a comment and you are a blog follower, I will enter your name into the draw for this month.

Happy (18) Birthday

This is the full reveal of the sneaky peek I showed you the other day using this month's scrapbook kit of  Basic Grey 'Mint Julep' patterned papers of Elaine, Alvina and Carolina, along with Bazzill Cardstock Blossom, Espresso and Cream Puff.  The kit also included a 6x6 Tando Creative Dotted Star Mask.

I used Bazzill Blossom cardstock as the base and gutted out the middle (to use on another project).  I then layered this with the Cream Puff cardstock and pieces of Carolina and Alvina patterned papers.  I added a die-cut vintage lace border along the left hand edge before adding a piece of Alvina paper (reverse side is brown) and used the Dotted Star Mask and a Chalk Ink Pad to add the dotted corner feature.

I added the photograph, leaving the left hand side open for the '18' journal tag to sit inside.  I made some banner shapes, added eyelets and some embroidery thread to make the 'Happy' banner and added the word 'birthday' using alpha stickers.  All that was left to do was add the rosette to the top left of the banner to finish.

I will reveal the second sneaky peek tomorrow with some details on how I put the layout together.  Leave a comment to let me know that you have passed by this way.  If you are a blog follower I will enter your name into the draw for this month.  Thanks for stopping by.

Mad Scrappers Scrapbook Kit for July

I thought I would show you the kit for this month's Mad Scrappers Club next Wednesday.  The ladies will be creating with some fab Basic Grey Mint Julep patterned papers, along with co-ordinating cardstock of Blossom, Espresso and Cream Puff.  The technique this month is using a Mask and they will each have a 6x6 Tando Creative 'Dotted Star' Mask in the kit.

We have another lady joining us this month so no extra kits available to buy this time.  I always source and order kits well in advance to ensure that products arrive on time and in the quantities I need.  August will be the last month when we will have one club night a month.  As from September there will be two club nights each month, catering for all levels of scrapbooking ability.

I have created two layouts as usual and will pop some 'sneaky peeks' on the blog over the next couple of days.  The full reveal will be after the club on Thursday and Friday.  Thanks for stopping by.  Please leave a comment to let me know you have passed by this way.
