More Textures from DCWV

DCWV have moved with the market trend for new textures and alternate finishes in crafting and produced some gorgeous new textured paper pads.  I have already used the adhesive Cork Stack, which is just like the real thing.  I showed you the Burlap Paper Stack the other day.  Today I thought I would show you a couple more of the new textured stacks.

This is the 6x6 Gauze Paper Stack:

This stack contains a collection of paper in assorted shades - all with an actual gauze finish on the top.  Use them to accent your cards, highlight your next layout, or as a base for a current decoupage project.  The pack includes 24 6"x6" sheets - 4 of each colour.

This next one is the 6x6 Corrugate Neutrals Stack:

This set of solid corrugated neutral sheets can be added to your cards, for matting photographs, altering a frame and more!  This 6"x6" pack includes 24 sheets - 4 of each colour.  These products should be in stock by the end of next month.

Leave a comment to let me know that you have passed by this way and I will enter your name into the blog candy draw.  Thanks for stopping by.

More Brag Book pages

I have completed some more pages of my Fancy Pants Brag Book and thought I would show you a couple more.

This first page is of my recent holiday when we sailed from Newcastle to Norway:

I took some photographs when we came up river of Little Haven Hotel and the Groyne at South Shields.  Some of our family came to wave us off and wish us 'bon voyage'.
This next page shows me with Jennie Nicell from the Craft Qualifications Centre.  We met for the first time when I was at the Ross Papercraft Show in Edinburgh and she presented me with an interim Diploma in Professional Crafting.  I received my Diploma proper a few days later in the post.

I copied the Diploma and Candidate Unit Summary and added those to the brag book as a reminder of when I received my award.  It was a lovely day all round as Jennie presented me with a lovely bunch of flowers as well.

I am still adding to the brag book, as and when I get photographs developed and this will be an on-going project until the end of the year.  It has been a really lovely project to undertake and I can see that it may be something I would undertake again.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Leave a comment and I will enter your name into the blog candy draw - not long now until it is drawn again.

Another page.......

This is another page I have added to my Fancy Pants Brag Book.  Mine is about 'My Journey' 2013 and I am capturing different moments in my life during this year.  As I didn't start to record this year until June I have had to look back at what I have actually done this year.

In January, it was DH 60th Birthday (60 is the new 50 now!) - anyhow I wanted to include the cards he got from our Grandchildren and without actually sticking in the whole cards, I decided to take a photograph and just add in the inside of the cards where they had signed their names.  Obi, by the way (in case you didn't realise) is a dog!

I love how on the first card insert the word 'birthday' has been scored out then re-written - just the thing a child would do.  On the second card insert as well as the dog's name there is also a little 'paw print' drawn on the page.  These are the little things that are priceless!

I usually keep all special birthday cards anyhow but I thought this way they would never get thrown away - well in not my lifetime anyway.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Please leave a comment so that I know you have passed by this way.

There is an article in the current edition of Scrap365 by Gabrielle Pollacco, where she uses Burlap fabric on her layouts.  As well as giving texture to layouts and other projects it can be found in fabric shops or craft shops or can be recycled from packaging.

I haven't stocked this fabric but looking through the new products coming through from CHA this Summer I came across this fab Burlap Paper Stack:

This stack is from DCWV, is 6x6 size, has 24 sheets per pack and is Acid free - so suitable for scrapbook layouts.  It is due into stock around the end of September - I will post when it's in the shop.

Have you used Burlap fabric (new or recycled) on any projects?  If you have, leave a comment to let me know.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Scrap365 Sketch Challenge: September

This is the Scrap365 Sketch Challenge for September, based on a sketch by Paula Ridley:

The Sketch Challenge closes on 12th September - so plenty of time to get your entries in to win a prize by Quirky Kits.  You can find the Scrap365 Sketch Challenge HERE.

Why not give it a go?  If I have time this month I will be joining in - just for the fun of it!  I am busy creating the layouts using September's Mad Scrappers Kit - so may use some of the contents to create this layout as I like the idea of creating with smaller photographs.

If you decide to give this one a go - let me know and I will pop over to the Sketch Challenge blog and have a look.  Thanks for stopping by today - enjoy the Bank Holiday tomorrow.

'Christmas Advent Kit' Workshop

Our 'Christmas Advent Kit' Workshop will be on Saturday 30th November 2013 - 1.00 p.m. - 6.00 p.m., so 5 hours of lovely creating with this fabulous Tando Creative Christmas Advent.

The kit starts out life looking like this:

It comes with all the pieces that you need: 2 piece circular panels, advent numbers, pointer and a selection of Tando minis.  You even get the chipboard circle centres that are cut out of the top panel!

This is one that Di from Tando Creative made with her kit:
This is a gorgeous example of what you could make.  I'm thinking red for mine as I have some lovely red music paper that would be perfect for this project.

Places, in the first instance would be given to Mad Scrappers Club Members but after that (if there are any places left) I will open this day to other crafters who fancy giving this a go.

How would you decorate this?  What colours would you use - traditional red, green?  Perhaps add in some sparkle using gold or silver?  Leave a comment to let me know and I will enter your name into the draw for the blog candy if you are a follower.  Thanks for stopping by today.

More from Mad Scrappers

A couple more layouts from club members using this month's kit of Fancy Pants 'What a Wonderful Day' patterned papers, co-ordinating cardstock and cork shapes.

This one was created by Linda S. using the kit but adding in some patterned papers of her own to create this layout based on the sketch by Susan Stringfellow at Sketch Savvy. I love the clean lines of this design - well done Linda.
This next layout is from Karen, who has used a clean and simple style for her page.  The different shaped arrows draw your eye from the journal card to the photograph using the cork arrow embellishments on the layout to good effect.

Thanks for sharing ladies.  I will be back tomorrow with some new product updates.  Pop back then when I will be revealing some crafting lovelies!  Thanks for stopping by today.

Club Layouts

Anne D. has kindly allowed me to share these couple of layouts using previous Mad Scrappers Club Kits.  The first one is using July's kit of Basic Grey patterned papers called 'Mint Julep', co-ordinating cardstock and a Tando Creative Mask.

I just love the photo's in this layout - they go so well with the vintage retro look of the patterned papers.  Children's birthday parties were so simpler then!

Anne has used some lovely photographs to showcase these fab Teresa Collins 'Stationery Noted' patterned papers and Decorative Buttons from the May kit.
Thanks for sharing with us Anne.  Leave a comment on this post and if you are a blog follower I will enter your name into the blog candy draw for this month.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Photo's from yesterday's show

What a busy, busy show yesterday.  I managed to speak to some of the new ladies who are joining our second scrapbook club night in September and two of them even met each other before the night!

Some of the delicious patterned papers

Teresa Collins Collection Kits

I took a few photo's before the show started and DH had the job to take more during the show but forgot (my fault as I didn't remind him).  Anyhow we got a couple towards the end when it was closing.

Nearly closing time - best time to have a browse in peace!

Chatting away with one of my new club members!
The next show I will be at is 'Pins & Needles' on 17th-19th October 2013 at Newcastle Racecourse, Gosforth.  I am really looking forward to that one as it is a mix of different crafts and gifts, so makes for a very interesting show (can't wait).

The next Scrapbook Saturday in The Scrapbook Garden diary is 'Have a Smashing Time Workshop' on Saturday 31st August 2013.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Please leave a comment so that I know you have passed by this way.

More Mad Scrappers Layouts

More layouts from the Mad Scrappers using this month's scrapbook kit of Fancy Pants 'What a Wonderful Day' patterned papers, co-ordinating cardstock and cork shapes.

Today I am sharing layouts by Linda P. and Julia using this kit:
This layout is by Linda putting her own slant on the sketch challenge - lovely!

Julia has used the reverse side of the patterned paper (green background) and layered this with strips of patterned paper to create this fab layout.

Both have used the Fancy Pants Cork Arrows very effectively on their layouts.  Thank you ladies for sharing with us.

Leave a comment to let me know that you have passed by this way.  Thanks for stopping by today.

August Mad Scrappers LO's

Annette and Brenda P. have kindly allowed me to share with you their layouts using this month's kit.  Both layouts are based on the sketch from Susan Stringfellow from Sketch Savvy(as previously shown on blog).

This is Annette's layout using the Fancy Pants patterned papers and the cork arrow shapes.  Annette has added her own touches to make this layout her own - lovely work Annette.

Another take on this sketch, this time from Brenda.  I love how the sketch has given inspiration to both of them and they have made the layouts their own by adding in extra little touches.  Another lovely layout.

Thank you both for sharing.  Pop back tomorrow and I will showcase Linda P. and Julia's creations using this month's kit.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Please leave a comment to let me know that you have passed by this way.

This is the second reveal of the 'sneaky peeks' I posted last week using this month's Mad Scrappers Kit of Fancy Pants patterned papers, co-ordinating cardstock and cork sheets and arrow shapes.

I used Bazzill Fire Hearts for the base of this layout (gutted out the middle), layering this with the Bazzill White Cardstock.  I used a template to shape the Fire Hearts Cardstock and added strips of patterned paper in layers to create a mat for the photograph.

I used the DCWV Cork Sheets and Sizzix Dies (with the BigShot) to cut arrow, butterflies and label shapes.  The rosette is actually cut using a piece of the 'Strips' patterned paper and co-ordinates with the cork shapes really well.

The title is American Crafts DIY Thickers (Sprinkles) and the brad is from my own stash.  Pop back tomorrow and I will showcase some of the layouts from the Mad Scrappers Club.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Fun In The Sun!

As it is the Mad Scrappers Club tonight, I thought I would reveal the first 'sneaky peek' that I posted last week.  This one is called 'Fun In The Sun!' and it was created using a fab sketch by Susan Stringfellow at Sketch Savvy.

This is my interpretation of this sketch using this month's Mad Scrappers Kit of Fancy Pants 'What a Wonderful Day' patterned papers - Wondrous; This Way; and Strips.  The Bazzill Cardstock is Fire Hearts, Candle Glow and White and the technique this month is using DCWV Cork Sheets and Fancy Pants Cork Shapes (Arrows).

I added the cork arrow shapes to the top left hand side of the layout and made a cork butterfly using a Sizzix Die with the BigShot.  These cork sheets cut really easily and could be cut with scissors.  They are self-adhesive, so easy to adhere to projects and they add some really nice dimension to the page.

I used my Martha Stewart large circle cutter to create the Fire Hearts circles - cutting one 5" circle, then placing the circle cutter on the circle, cut another 4" circle inside this circle (this creates the outer circle rim).

I really enjoyed using this sketch and it works perfectly with the fab patterned papers in this month's kit.  These papers are perfect for all those summer layouts - so bright and breezy!

Looking forward to the club tonight ladies - it has been 5 weeks since we last met up (far too long).  Thanks for stopping by today.  Please leave a comment so that I know you have passed by this way.
