More from the Mad Scrappers Club

Today I wanted to show some more layouts from last Wednesday's Mad Scrappers Club members.  This first one is from Eileen and is from February's kit of MME Cupid's Arrow patterned papers and chipboard hearts.

Eileen's layout uses both sides of the foiled papers to great effect.  Thanks for sharing with us Eileen.

This layout is by Karen F using this month's kit of Prima Stationer's Desk patterned papers.  A good way of adding more than one photo to your layout Karen.  Thanks for sharing with us.
Finally, this layout from Linda S - love the zipper detail on the photograph!  Thanks for sharing with us Linda.

I am more or less up-to-date with the website now, as all stock levels have been updated.  Thanks for stopping by today and have a 'creative Monday!'.  See you back here tomorrow.

Photo's from Creative Crafts

Thank you Gateshead!  Another busy show at Creative Crafts yesterday.  It is very tiring setting up, standing on your feet all day, then dismantling it all again - but so worth it!  A few photo's today (still recovering):

Before the onslaught!
Some of my lovely customers!
Showing some of my layouts on the wall!
A big thank you to all my loyal customers and those I met for the first time yesterday.  Thanks to the ladies from Mad Scrappers who came along and gave me their support (you know who you are).  Thank you also DD and DH for your continued help and support (couldn't do it without you).  Well I better stop there - it's beginning to sound like an acceptance speech at the Oscars!
See you back here tomorrow.  Thanks for stopping by.

It's showtime!

Just a quick post today to remind everyone that it is Super Saturday at Creative Crafts at Gateshead Stadium.  It starts at 9.30 a.m. - 4.30 p.m. - so an extra hour to do your crafty shopping.

I have set up ready (just a few finishing touches to do first thing) - here's a photo of part of my little shop.

I decided to put all the little bits of gorgeousness all together on the back table.  If you are coming along, don't forget that you can take some time out of walking around shopping and make one of the gift bags I have in my Make 'n Take.
If you are coming along today - please stop by and say hello!  I will be back tomorrow with an update on how the day went and some more photo's.  Thanks for stopping by.

Mad Scrappers Layouts: March

Yesterday I posted a couple of photographs of the (tidy) tables of a few of our Mad Scrappers Club Members.  Today, as promised, I have a couple of layouts created by some of our club members.

First up is Annette with this layout she created using this month's kit of Prima 'Stationer's Desk' patterned papers.

Fab use of the Prima Wire thread (part of this month's kit).  I love the idea of the zipped pocket!  Annette used the reverse side of these patterned papers - just shows how versatile they are.

I love this layout from Gayle, which tells the story of her weight loss.  Great idea to include the zip - (we have all been there!).  Congratulations too on an amazing weight loss - you look super.  I also like your reasons for losing weight - especially the 'buy new clothes' bit.

I think we are all sometimes guilty of making our pages look like pieces of art and forget that they should be telling a story (note to self: add more journaling).  That's why I think these two layouts are great for that reason.  Thanks for sharing with us ladies.  If you leave a comment for the ladies today and you are a blog follower, I will enter your name into the draw for this month's blog candy.  Thanks for taking the time to stop by today.

Mad Scrappers Club Night

Thank you ladies for another fab club night.  Everyone was well behaved (!) and lots of scrapping was completed.  What's that saying - "You can't make an omelette without breaking a few eggs".  Well here's the proof:

I didn't have the full list of names with me last night to make the monthly draw but I took it upon myself to do it this morning via a random number selection website and the result is:

Random numbers generated Mar 27 2014 at 9:10:13 by

Gayle's name was 6th on the list so she wins the £10.00 to spend in the shop next month.  Congratulations Gayle.

I will post some of the Mad Scrappers layouts tomorrow.  See you back here then.  Thanks for stopping by.

Family Weddings

This is the full reveal of the second 'sneaky peek' I showed a couple of weeks ago using this month's Mad Scrappers Club Kit.  The kit contains patterned papers from prima 'Stationer's Desk', co-ordinating cardstock, a Prima Doily Sticker and some Prima Wire Thread.

I used Prima Pomegranate cardstock for the base of this layout and layered this up with Cream cardstock and Prima 'Captured Drama' patterned paper.  I fussy cut the flowers from the patterned paper and layered them over the edge of the photograph using double-sided foam tape to add some dimension.  I made the heart embellishment using the chipboard hearts from last month's kit as a template and then I embossed them.

I 'stitched' some kisses in the top right hand corner of the layout using some of the wire thread.  The photograph is of my Sister and Niece, who had a double wedding in Las Vegas (about 10 years ago now).

It is the second mad Scrappers Club night tonight.  Looking forward to meeting up with the ladies from the club.  We have a new lady joining us tonight (so be on your best behaviour!).  Thanks for stopping by today.

Pretty storage solutions

I bought this pretty storage box and magazine file at the weekend .... at Sainsbury's!  Remember to check out the stationery aisles when you are out shopping as they have some hidden little gems in there.

What's not to like about these?  They're pink and they were half price!  At £1.99 each ... a bargain!  Now all I need to do is find some time to sort out the mess that is my office/craft room!

Have you had any crafty bargains lately?  Leave a comment to let me know.  If you are a blog follower I will enter your name into the draw.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Windswept on Holy Island

One of two layouts I have created using the fab Glitz Design 'Black & White' range.  This one called 'Windswept on Holy Island' tells the story of when we went to Holy Island one Summer (probably circa 1984) - pre digital camera age.  The photographs themselves weren't of great quality but they were the only ones I had of the day.  I decided to make them into circles and frame them so I could use more than one photograph on the page.

As you can see from the photographs, although it was Summer the wind on the island was bitter cold.  Myself and my two girls only had a lightweight jacket on each and I remember thinking "why didn't we bring a cardigan?".  Needless to say after this experience a cardigan was duly packed in the car for every day out we ever went on!
I used Glitz Design 'Black & White' Woodgrain (used reverse side) and Polka for this page.  The frames were cut on the Cricut as I thought they looked like View Master circles.  The arrows were added to add movement to the page to represent the swirling wind.  I couldn't resist adding the pin wheels for a bit of fun.  The title is made up from letters from the Glitz Design Alphas and Words Sticker Sheet.  You can view all the Glitz Design products HERE.
Thanks for stopping by.  Remember to leave a comment so that your name is entered into the draw for this month's blog candy (see rules of entry to qualify).

Scrap365 Sketch Challenge: April

The Scrap365 Sketch Challenge for April is now live on their website with a sketch based on artwork by Lisa Saunders.

The sponsor for April is Inkido/Papercraft Scandinavia Company.  The link is open until 11th April 2014 and you can find it HERE.

So, what are you waiting for?  Dust off those inks, paints, patterned papers etc. and get to work!  Now does that sound like a challenge to you?  As usual I will probably give it a go just for the challenge of it really.  This one looks like a real challenge as it is open to all sorts of interpretations.  Would love to see what you come up with.  Let me know if this inspires you to have a go.

Thanks for stopping by today.

Creative Crafts 'Super Saturday'

Just a reminder that this time next week The Scrapbook Garden will be at Gateshead Stadium for Creative Crafts 'Super Saturday'.  The details are on the poster below.
As usual I will be offering a 'Pick up at Store' option, which you can find on the website shop once you check-out.  This facility allows you to order anything that is in stock online and either choose to pay via PayPal or cash at the show.  This option means you won't be charged postage - brilliant!
You can if you wish, email me at and place your order this way.  All orders must be received by Wednesday 12.00 noon so I have time to pick and pack your order in time.
If you live too far away and cannot make this date yourself - please feel free to let any crafty friends and relatives who may live close by know of this show (word of mouth is the best advertisement).  Thanks for stopping by today - have a lovely Saturday.

Tando Creative: Large Carriage Clock

I have always loved Tando Creative chipboard clocks and have made up the Printer Tray Style Clock and the Cuckoo Clock but for some reason never found the time to make the Large Carriage Clock - until now:

For this one I decided that those fab patterned papers from Prima 'Stationer's Desk' would be lovely made up with this chipboard clock.  I used 'Red Romance' from the collection (for the front and back panel) and 'Captured Drama' for the small top piece.  I used stamps and some rub-ons on the background paper.  The Burlap flower and butterfly were cut on the BigShot using a die and some Burlap fabric.

I am going to give an extra entry into the blog candy draw today for the first person who can tell me the price of this clock in The Scrapbook Garden shop.  Extra entry to first person only.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Tando Creative: new arrivals!

They've arrived!  I'm talking of course about the fab new products from Tando Creative.  I have uploaded the fabulous 'Stationery Box' and 'Octagonal HOME Hanging' to the website shop:

I also have this Mask - Diamond Circles:
I also have restocks of Mask Musical:

I have also stocked up on the fabulously popular Tando chipboard clocks: Printer Tray Style, Large Carriage Clock and Cuckoo Clock.  There is even restocks of the chipboard Handbag.  All ready for our next show at Creative Crafts, Gateshead Stadium next week.  Of course you can buy them from the website shop too.  If you are going to Creative Crafts next weekend it may pay you to reserve your clock as they literally 'fly out of the door' at most shows.  Don't say I didn't warn you!

I have been decorating a Tando Creative Large Carriage Clock with some of those fabulous Prima 'Stationer's Desk' patterned papers .... may show tomorrow!  You will just have to pop back then!  Thanks for stopping by today.

Basically Bare: Acetate Sheets

Have you ever bought one of those fab basically Bare Albums that contain an acetate sheet to be totally stumped on what to do with them?  When I created my Travel Journal last year I used patterned papers to cover my acetate sheet. The other side should be covered in the same places (it is see-through!).

Another idea that I found on the Basically Bare Blog is this one from Einat Kessler:

This is the other side:
She has used a template and paste, stamped with inks and used patterned papers to achieve this fab page.  You can find the link to this gorgeous page HERE.  If you fancy giving one of these Basically Bare Albums a go - you can find them in the shop HERE.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Remember to leave a comment and if you are a blog follower, I will enter your name into the draw for the blog candy.

Scrap365 Wooden Shapes

You can now buy some fab wooden shapes direct from Scrap365 and they have a very 'on trend' set (that are a personal favourite):

This pack have wooden Polaroids, Mini Hearts, Mini Stars, Chevrons, Arrow & Pointers, Glasses and Moustaches.  Here is an extract from their website:

"The craft wood shapes have been designed exclusively for Traplet by the Squidgy Pins design team and are perfect for you to incorporate beautiful wooden shapes and embellishments into your crafted creations.

These unpainted craft wood shapes will set your creativity free, as you can paint, varnish, drill them, and cover them in glitter and sparkles. In fact whether you use them with cards, to make ornaments and jewellery or any other crafts from wood, the only limitation is your own imagination.

Each set of laser cut craft wood shapes is presented in an A6 (148 mm high by 105 mm wide) piece of 1.5 mm plywood. Simply use a craft knife to cut the thin tabs that connect each shape to the board and you can use these craft templates instantly. You can even use the empty frame as a stencil giving these craft templates twice the crafty usefulness!

With a wide selection of wood shapes, including wooden letters and wooden hearts, there’s plenty of inspiration for all kinds of events, holidays, birthdays, celebrations and seasons."

They have a special introductory offer on at the moment: 5 packs for £9.95 plus p&p.  To get your little mitts on these follow this LINK.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Prima Sketch Challenge

A week ago I told you about the Prima March Build a Page (BAP) challenge and invited (or some may even say challenged) you to take part.  Just to remind you this is the March Challenge Sketch by Marie-Nicolas Alliot:

As our Mad Scrappers Club Kit for March contained some fabulous patterned papers from the brand new 'Stationer's Desk' range, I decided to give this challenge a go and this is what I created:

I used Prima 'Stationer's Desk': Love Letter and Captured Drama patterned papers, along with Prima 'Lace Stickers': Labels and Day to Day.  I have also used a Prima 'Wood Icon' Camera embellishment.
I have changed the sketch around a bit to accommodate my photographs but otherwise I have stuck to the original concept.  I found this sketch a bit of a challenge as this is not my usual scrapbooking style but I enjoyed the creative process.
The challenge is open until 31st March - why not give it a go!  Let me know if you do.  The rules of the challenge  (and the link) can be found HERE.  Thanks for stopping by today.

February Layouts

Three of the club members completed layouts using the February Club Kit at home and brought them along on Wednesday night for us to look at.  Last month's kit was patterned papers from MME Cupid's Arrow, co-ordinating cardstock and a pack of MME Chipboard Hearts.

First up with her completed February layout is Christine, who completed this lovely layout - perfect!

Next up is Beryl who created this lovely page - another fab creation!

Finally, Anne D who completed this lovely layout - love those roses!

Thanks for sharing with us ladies.  Your names are in the monthly Mad Scrappers Club members draw for a chance to win £10.00 to spend in the shop.  Best of luck everyone.

I will be back tomorrow with a little something I created for the Prima Sketch Challenge.  Remember I challenged all the club members (and those followers who are brave enough) to enter the challenge this month.  Well, I have put my money where my mouth is (so to speak) and actually completed a layout based on the sketch!  Will post tomorrow, so pop back then.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Kate's Layout

At our Mad Scrappers club night on Wednesday one of our club members (Kate) created this beautiful layout using some of her own stash.

Kate used some patterned papers from Rusty Pickle that she bought a while back and created this layout of her daughter's 6th Birthday party.  Fab layout Kate thanks for sharing with us.

I will be back tomorrow with some layouts from club members from last month, so pop back then.  In the meantime have a lovely Saturday.  Thanks for stopping by.

More Mad Scrappers Layouts!

Following on from my post yesterday showing you some of the layouts created by the ladies of the Mad Scrappers Club, today I have a few more to share.

This first one is by Gillian, who completed a couple of pages for her Fancy Pants Brag Book using papers from this month's kit and some of her own embellishments.

Next I want to show you a layout that Pat A has created in readiness for an upcoming wedding in the Summer (hence no photograph or title yet).  The red background really sets off the beautiful Prima Lace Sticker.

Janice used her kit contents to create this layout of a family photograph.

I spy some of those fab Prima 'Stationer's Desk' Brads on this layout!

Another 3 different ways on how to use this kit and make the layouts your own.  Thanks for sharing your lovely layouts with us ladies.  I will be back tomorrow with some other shares.  Until then, feel free to leave a comment for the ladies.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Mad Scrappers Layouts #1

There was much hilarity from one group of Mad Scrappers last night over a Prima Lace Sticker (that seemed to have a life of it's own) and rendered it's poor scrapper in a proper predicament!  What is worse that her 'friend' recorded her predicament on her mobile phone - shame on you! lol.

In amongst all the madness, some Mad Scrappers actually managed to create some lovely layouts that I will start to share with you today.

This first one is from Julia who used some of her own stash to add to the page:

I love this Julia - those little extra touches make all the difference.

Another lovely layout - this time from Linda P.  The doily in this photo is one from Linda's stash (not the Prima Sticker), which she used on another page.
I have more layouts to show you (once I have time to upload from the camera).  Thanks to Julia and Linda for allowing me to show their layouts.  Thanks also to the lovely ladies who attend our club nights - you are all priceless!  Thanks for stopping by today.

'I Do'

This is the full reveal of the sneaky peek #1 I posted last week and is the first of two layouts using this month's Mad Scrappers Kit of Prima 'Stationer's Desk' patterned papers and co-ordinating cardstock.  This month as the technique we are using one of those fab new Prima Lace Stickers and some of their Wire Thread.

I used Prima 'Stationer's Desk' Red Ink as the base for this layout.  I also used one of the brand new Teresa Collins 'Essentially Basic' Stencils (Damask) and a Ranger Paint Dabber (Snowcap) to create more pattern on the background.  I used a Tando Creative 'Hearts Background' Mask and some Silver Acrylic Paint to achieve the hearts design on the base paper.

I used one of the journal cards from the Prima 'Stationer's Desk' Love Letter patterned paper to mat the photograph - cutting into the paper so it overlaps on one side.  I used the Prima Lace Sticker (Doily) as is and added some Crafty Impressions Lace Border in white and some Dovecraft 'Curiosity Corner' Resin Flowers.  I made some swirls to add to the flowers (using the Prima Wire Thread).  I added a journal card (from the Love Letter paper), added some wire thread and added my title.

The zip embellishment in the top right hand corner is a Marianne Design Die, which I cut from a piece of the patterned paper and added a contrasting colour underneath.

I am looking forward to the first (of two this month) Mad Scrappers Clubs tonight.  I cannot wait to see what the ladies come up with using this kit.  See you all tonight ladies.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Creative Crafts: Super Saturday

Just a quick reminder (as if you need it!) that Creative Crafts at Gateshead Stadium is on 29th March 2014.  Here are the details:

I have a couple of busy, busy weeks ahead of me organising for this ONE DAY spectacular!  It is Mother's Day on the Sunday, so what better time to come and have a look around for that crafty gift for her.  There are stands selling all things crafty: card making, beads, glitter, ribbons, stamping, scrapbooking, patchwork & quilting, wool, fabric, jewellery and local crafts.  Tickets are only £3.50 and there is catering on site with free parking thrown in.

I know some of you popping by today live too far away but I hope you get the chance to attend a craft show near to you.  Thanks for stopping by.

You are Awesome

What a beautiful day it is here in the North of England this morning.  It is on days like these that I appreciate living beside the sea - a bit cold yet to go plodging (dipping your feet in the water) but never-the-less it gives hope that Spring has at last arrived.

It's only 8 weeks to go until it is National Scrapbooking Day!  When I first mentioned it to everyone I think they thought I was a bit mad to start arranging the day (considering it is not until 3rd May)... but time stops for no man (or woman) and it will be here before we know it.

On that note, I have decided to share with you another layout using the brand new Teresa Collins 'My Name Is' Collection patterned papers and stickers.  We will be using this paper collection on NSD, along with one of those fab Teresa Collins Flip Books.
I used Hello My Name Is 'Journal', 'Love' and 'Words' patterned papers on this page.  All stickers and alphas are from the collection also.  All I added was a couple of buttons from my own stash.
I have another couple of layouts under construction so to speak and will keep those under wraps until nearer the date (I know I'm a spoilsport!).  I am really looking forward to the NSD and am hoping we will get some more of our Mad Scrappers to come along and join us.
Thanks for stopping by today - feel free to leave a comment.

Mad Scrappers Club Kit: sneaky peek #2

Today I thought I would show you a little sneaky peek of the second layout I have created with this month's Mad Scrappers Club Kit.

The kit this month contains fab patterned papers from Prima called 'Stationer's Desk' and they are perfect for ... Weddings (amongst other things).  Here you can see that I have been fussy cutting one of the patterned papers but it is so worth it as it gives a stunning effect on your page.
Looking forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday night and what you all come up with using this kit.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Don't forget to leave a comment.

Tando: Octagonal Home Hanging

Another fabulous new product release from Tando Creative.  This time it is a beautiful Octagonal Home Hanging Kit containing octagonal frames, letters (HOME) and other elements to decorate the hanging.  The overall length of this when hanging is 430mm long.

This one has been beautifully decorated (by Tando Creative).  Just imagine hanging this in your home or making for someone who has just moved into their first or new home (as a present).

It comes in kit form like this - all ready for you to decorate and assemble.  All the pieces shown are included in the kit.  I will be stocking this product in the shop shortly (will post when in stock).

This is the second idea I had for our August workshop.  I think this is more do-able in the time we have, along with some scrapping time as well!  Leave your comments and let me know.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Tando: Stationery Box

New from Tando Creative is this fabulous Stationery Box cut from 2250 micron greyboard.  It comes complete with lift up lid and 2 drawers.  It is supplied flat but comes with instructions to construct.  The overall size is 176mm x 260mm.

This one has been beautifully decorated (by Tando Creative) in lovely tones of aqua blue - gorgeous!

A peek inside the box!  Wouldn't it make a fab workshop day!

Well ladies (especially the Mad Scrappers Club) what do you think of this for an idea for our August workshop?  Just having a look around at the moment, so not a done deal yet.  I have another idea (will post tomorrow) that might not be as daunting.  Check back here tomorrow and I will reveal the second suggestion.

I will be stocking this Stationery Box either way (will post when in stock).  Thanks for stopping by today.  Leave a comment so that I know you have passed by this way.

March Kit: Layout - sneaky peek #1

I showed the fabulous patterned papers that are in this month's Mad Scrappers Kit in yesterday's post and I promised a little 'sneaky peek' today on one of two layouts I have created so far using this kit.

I will do the full reveal next Wednesday (the night of the first Mad Scrappers Club this month).  The second club night is still growing and we will have a new member joining us in March.

There are still a couple of places available in our second club night (fourth Wednesday of every month) and if you are interested please email me for further details.  My email is:

Remember to leave a comment and if you are a blog follower, I will enter your name into the draw for the bling, bling candy this month.  Thanks for taking time to stop by.
