Mad Scrappers Layouts: Karen S

Karen S from our Mad Scrappers Club, created this layout using this month's kit of Graphic45 patterned papers 'By the Sea', co-ordinating cardstock and a 12x12 sheet of DCWV Burlap:

Karen used Bazzill Lakeshore as the base for this layout (Bazzill Natural as the border) and layered this with some of that fab DCWV Burlap, before adding her photograph.  The photograph frame is made by gutting out the centre of one of the journal cards from 'Sand & Surf' patterned paper.

Karen used some of the burlap to die-cut her title.  Love the burlap ribbon (Karen's own stash) along the bottom edge of the matted photograph!  The wooden anchor (again, Karen's own), just adds that finishing touch.  Fabulous work Karen - thanks for sharing with us.

Have a super Saturday and I will be back tomorrow with the winner of this month's blog candy.  See you then.

More from Mad Scrappers!

Today I wanted to show you some more layouts by our creative Mad Scrappers Club members, using this month's kit of Graphic 45 'By the Sea' patterned papers - Splash, Gathering Seashells, and Sand & Surf.  The co-ordinating cardstock is Bazzill Cantaloupe, Lakeshore and Natural.  This month's kit also included a 12x12 sheet of DCWV Burlap.

First up today is Karen F with two layouts created using this kit:

Karen used Bazzill Lakeshore for the base of this layout and layered up with some DCWV Burlap, adding a map of Portugal, a photograph and memorabilia from her recent holiday.  Lovely idea Karen for a fab layout.

Karen used G45 'Gathering Seashells' as the base for this layout taken on her recent holiday.  Check out the 'ice-cream' spoons - fab idea!  Love that title Karen!  Love how your layouts are so personal with added memorabilia.  Karen took inspiration for this layout from a sketch in Scrap365 (April/May 2014, page 12) from a design by Lisa Saunders.

Linda S also created two layouts using this month's Mad Scrappers kit:

Linda used Bazzill Natural cardstock as the base and used strips of ''Splash' patterned paper.  The frame for her photograph is taken from one of the journal cards on the 'Sand & Surf' patterned paper.  Linda added some shell stickers of her own - fab final touch.

This final layout today from Linda S uses Bazzill Cantaloupe cardstock as the base and this has been layered up with 'Gathering Seashells' and 'Splash' patterned papers.  Lovely photo choice - goes so well with the burlap!

Thank you so much ladies for sharing with us.  Remember to leave a comment so that you will be entered into the draw for the blog candy (you must be a follower and leave the comment on the same day as the post to qualify).  Thanks for stopping by today.

Mad Scrappers Layouts

Another (lively!) session with the Mad Scrappers Club members last night.  Plenty of chat, drinking tea/coffee, eating cake and of course scrapping!

Eileen brought along a layout she made using Authentique Natural 'Native', 'Daydream' and 'Enhancements' patterned paper (one of my favourite ranges from Authentique):

Lovely use of these patterns, using the gold tones of the 'Daydream' paper (reverse side) makes the eye focus on the photograph.  Fabulous work Eileen - thank you for sharing.

Sheila brought along two layouts she made with last month's kit of Bazzill 'Vintage Lace' patterned papers, co-ordinating cardstock and a Tsukineko Shimmer Spritzer in gold:

Fab use of the Shimmer Spritzer on these two lovely layouts.  Sheila just needs to add her title to finish.  Lovely photo choices - thanks for sharing with us.

Finally for today, Annette has kindly let me share this lovely layout she made using last month's kit:

If you look closely you will see the lovely stitching that Annette has added.  The swirls along the bottom edge and around the circle matting the photograph are all hand stitched.  Fabulous work Annette - thanks for sharing also.

I am sure you will agree that the Mad Scrappers have produced (yet again) some absolutely fabulous work - well done all of you!  I will be back tomorrow with some more of their layouts to share with you.

Customer layouts: Ella

Ella sent me these two fab layouts she created with a Mad Scrappers Club Kit from last year.  The kit contained patterned papers from Teresa Collins 'Stationery Noted', along with Bazzill cardstock and a pack of Decorative Buttons from the same range.  I had some extra kits left over from the monthly club - sometimes they are available to purchase after the club (these are available from the online shop).

The patterned papers co-ordinate perfectly with the Bride's dress - just gorgeous!

Capturing the day in photographs - wonderful!  Thank you so much for allowing us to share your precious memories Ella.  I have given Ella 5 entries into the blog candy draw as a thank you for taking the time to send these layouts in and sharing.
Talking about sharing ... it is the second Mad Scrappers Club night - tonight!  Looking forward to that and hopefully some more layouts from the club members to share with you tomorrow.  Pop back then.

Where is this?

It was a lovely day here in the North East of England yesterday and me and DH decided to go out 'somewhere' for the day.  We started off looking for a place (that no longer exists in the form we remembered) and ended up here:

Do you recognise this fabulous building?  Clue: it is in the NE of England, has woodland walks, picnic areas, adventure playground for the children, a cafĂ©, shop to name a few  It is also educational!  I haven't been here for years, so it was lovely to visit again.

2 entries into the draw for the FIRST person only to give me the correct answer.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Beautiful Day

I decided I would give the Prima BAP Sketch Challenge a go this month (it closes on 30th May - so you still have time).  I couldn't decide between Prima Sea Shore or Time Traveler for the basis of my layout.  After much deliberation, I decided to use Time Traveler.  This is the Prima BAP Sketch:

I decided to use one photograph and found this gorgeous one of my Niece and her little boy at a friend's wedding last Summer.

I have used the following Prima products on this layout: Time Traveler - Priceless Moments, Forever Roses and Love Affair patterned papers.  Prima Cartographer SIIC, Prima Lace Stickers - Beauty and Doily 1.  Prima Time Traveler Flowers - Time Out.

I didn't add too many layers to the background paper - just added some inked hearts using a Tando Creative Hearts Background Mask.  I also matted the photograph onto some DCWV Burlap to add some texture.  The Prima flowers are fab and add the finishing touch to the layout.

I enjoyed using this sketch and although it looks quite complicated, the sketch is there for inspiration and you can interpret it how you like.  Why don't you give it a go.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Dymo LetraTag

I mentioned the other day that I had a new toy tool in the shape of a Dymo LetraTag - what I didn't do is show you the one I bought (it's pink!).

The one I bought came with 2 label cassettes - 1 pink metallic and 1 blue metallic.  I have used it on two layouts so far and I find it is easier than printing off the computer, then cutting out the strips and then sticking them on your layout.

With the Dymo LetraTag label maker, you can create a wide variety of high-quality, self-adhesive labels.  The labels are available in a variety of colours and materials - paper, plastic metallic and iron- on.

I have had a little play (as you do) and have found that there are lovely borders available (love the 'sweet hearts'), as well as symbols and special characters.  You can change the font size, style and create two-line labels.  As well as using for my layouts, I have a feeling that all my files will have lovely new labels very soon!

Well must be off now - having a play using my label maker.  See you back here tomorrow.

Footprints in the Sand

This is the reveal of the second sneaky peek I posted last week using this month's Mad Scrappers Kit of Graphic 45 'By the Sea' patterned papers, co-ordinating cardstock and DCWV 12x12 Burlap sheet.

I used Bazzill Cantaloupe as the base and layered this with G45 'Gathering Seashells' patterned paper, which was cut using a template to create the frame.

The 'Sand & Surf' patterned paper is so versatile and can be cut to create frames for your photographs (this is what I did in this layout).  I cut and frayed the edges of the burlap for this photo mat as it gives a lovely texture to the layout.  The burlap letters are from The Works - £1.99 for a pack of 52 letters.  Of course you can cut the burlap on a die-cutting machine to create your own alphas.  Looking forward to creating with our second Mad Scrappers Club group next Wednesday.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Leave a comment so that I know you have passed by this way.  If you leave a comment and you are a blog follower, your name will be entered into the blog candy draw for this month.

Doodlebug Design Braddies

I couldn't resist ordering these little lovelies when I saw them - hope you like them too!  They are from Doodlebug Design and are called Braddies

These little cuties are Seashells - perfect for those Summer layouts and projects.
These Skullies are 'too cute to spook'.  I have a feeling I know who would just love these.

I just love the 'ice-cream' colours of these Sugar Cones!  If I had to have a favourite it has to be this one.  Which is yours?

Leave a comment to let me know.  Every comment gives you 1 entry into the blog candy draw (if you are a follower).  Thanks for stopping by today.

Carta Bella Sketch

I found this fab sketch by Susan Stringfellow over on the Carta Bella Blog.  You can find the link HERE.

I have this sketch earmarked for next month's club kit, which will contain some Carta Bella patterned papers, although I won't be using the same ones as Susan Stringfellow has in her fabulous creation - click the link to see what I mean.

Another fab day here in the North East of England - hope the sun is shining on you wherever you are?  Leave a comment to let me know.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Christine's Flip Book

At our NSD, Christine, one of our Mad Scrappers created a fab Teresa Collins Flip Book about a recent trip to Liverpool:

The front cover

All about the 'Fab Four'

Ferry visit

Capturing the 'temperature'
This is just a few of the pages in the flip book.  A lovely keepsake Christine that includes your own personal memories of the day.  The 'I told you it was cold' page is class - love it all.  Thank you so much for sharing.
There were other Flip Books created on the day and hopefully I will be able to bring you some of those creations at a later date.  It is a lovely sunny day here in the North East of England today - hope it is just a lovely where you are.  Enjoy your Sunday.

Scrap365 Sketch Challenge

I haven't joined in the Scrap365 Sketch Challenge for a while but when I saw the latest sketch based on the artwork by Ulrika Wandler for June's sketch challenge I thought I would give it a go.

This is my take on the sketch that I have entered into the Scrap365 Sketch Challenge.

I used Bazzill white cardstock as the base and used stencils and ink to create the background.  I inked around the outside edges of the base cardstock and added two drawn lines with a black pen.  The patterned papers are from the Carta Bella 'Summer Lovin' range.

I used the wooden stars and glasses icons from the Squidgy Pins range.  The Polaroid frame is cut using one of the Squidgy Pins wooden frames as a template. I made my journaling strips using a Dymo Labelmaker (it's my new toy tool and it's pink!).

I really enjoyed working with this sketch as it stretched my creativity and got me inky!  Why not join in - it's a lovely sketch and there's a prize by sponsors 13 Arts up for grabs.  The challenge closes on 15th June, so plenty of time to join in.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Hope you have a lovely Saturday.

More from the Mad Scrappers

On Wednesday evening some of the ladies from the Mad Scrappers scrapbook club brought along some of the layouts they completed using last month's club kit.  The kit consisted of Bazzill Vintage Lace patterned papers, co-ordinating cardstock and a Sheer Shimmer Spritzer in gold.

First up is Beryl with two layouts:

Apologies that I couldn't photograph these straight on as the light produced a glare on the photographs.  Great layouts though Beryl.  Thanks for sharing with us.

Next up is Edna with another two layouts:

Lovely layouts Edna using family photographs - excellent choice with these vintage style papers.

Sue is up next with this layout:
Another lovely creation - love the buttons and the bright 'Sisters' word.

Finally, Anne G with this layout:
Lovely photograph choice for this fab layout.  Great idea to use one of the circles for part of the title - works a treat.

Thank you ladies for sharing with us - great work by you all.  It always amazes me how you can make each one look so different with your own personal touches.

Please leave a comment for the club members - much appreciated.  Thanks for stopping by today.

Mad Scrappers Club

The first (of two) Mad Scrappers Clubs last night.  There was lots of fussy cutting and creating (and lots of nattering - of course!) and two of our ladies managed to complete layouts using this month's kit.  This month's kit contains patterned papers from Graphic 45 'By the Sea' (one of my favourites ranges), co-ordinating cardstock and a sheet of 12x12 DCWV Burlap.

First up with a completed layout is Julia:
Love this combination of colours Julia - fab layout!

Next up is Linda P with this equally lovely layout:
Again, loving the extra touches you have added - those little fish metal charms are fab!  Thanks for sharing with us Julia and Linda.
Instead of the monthly £10 draw prize (for Mad Scrappers Club members each month) I decided that it was fairer to have 2 x £5.00 prizes each month (and members agreed to that).  The draw took place last night for March's entrants (a bit behind I know!) and the first name out of the (proverbial) hat was Pat A. and then Karen F (from our second club night).  Congrats ladies.  Pat duly spent hers on a fab Teresa Collins Flip Book - enjoy!
I have more from the Mad Scrappers using last month's kit and I will post those layouts over the next couple of days.  In the meantime, thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day (sunshine I hope).

Rock Chicks

This is (one of two) layouts I created using this month's Mad Scrappers Club Kit that consists of Graphic45 'By the Sea' patterned papers, co-ordinating Bazzill Cardstock and a sheet of 12x12 DCWV Burlap.

I used Bazzill 'Natural' Cardstock as the base, layering this with Bazzill 'Lakeshore' Cardstock, before adding the DCWV Burlap.  I used Graphic45 'Splash' and 'Sand and Surf' patterned papers on this layout and some Glitz Design 'Arrows' Washi Tape.  The burlap letters in the title are available from The Works (£1.99 for a pack of 52 burlap letters).  Alternatively, the burlap sheet can be cut on a die-cutting machine using an alphabet die.  I used the BigShot and a die to cut the burlap butterfly.

I used a Susan Stringfellow sketch that I came across on the Carta Bella blog.  Entrants to the NSD here at The Scrapbook Garden blog will recognise it as the one we used for the NSD challenge.

I absolutely love this sketch and I am sure I will use it again as I love the layering and detail.  I will reveal layout #2 later in the month on the second Mad Scrappers Club date.

Tonight is the first of this month's Mad Scrappers Club nights ..... looking forward to it ladies - see you all later.  Thanks for stopping by and don't forget to leave a comment so that you are entered in the draw for this month's fab prize.

Sneaky peek #2

Another sneaky peek today of layout 2, which I created using this month's Mad Scrappers Club Kit.  The kit contains patterned papers from Graphic 45 'By the Sea' range and they are fabulous!  The colours are gorgeous and lend themselves to all sorts of seaside or holiday layouts.

Not much to see today (I am cruel!) but I will reveal all in good time.  As you can see from the little snippet I have used the peachy/coral colours for this layout (and the burlap too!).  The patterned papers can be found on the website HERE and  the co-ordinating cardstock can be found on the website HERE and HERE

Remember if you are a blog follower to leave a comment to let me know you have passed by this way and you will be entered into the draw for the blog candy.  Thanks for stopping by today.
