Christmas Shopping

It was our annual Christmas shopping jaunt yesterday (2 Daughters and eldest Granddaughter this year).  The past couple of years we have gone to York, leaving ridiculously early in the morning to get there for when the shops open.  This year (partly due to me not booking the rail tickets early enough to get the cheap deals), we decided to stay local and shop in Newcastle.

Fenwicks of Newcastle is renowned for its Christmas window displays and this year features 'Alice in Wonderland'.  I caught a brief glimpse over the top of shoppers heads when I passed (photograph courtesy of Chronicle Live).

We had 3 refreshment stops (for much need tea/coffee/snacks) and finished off the day with a trip to a local eatery for our tea (which was really lovely).

After 8 hours of traipsing the length and breadth of Northumberland Street, surrounding areas and Eldon Square we eventually headed home.  I came back with the huge haul of.....3 gifts!  Good job I'm not a last minute shopper eh!

Mad Scrappers: November Layouts

This month the Mad Scrappers Club kit consists of patterned papers from Marion Smith Designs 'Romance Novel Chapter 2' range, coordinating cardstock and some fabulous Marion Smith Designs 'Arrow Charms'.

Anne D. used the reverse side of 'Sweet Something'(reverse side) for the base of this layout and added fussy-cut images from the front of the same patterned paper.  Love the journaling about 'airing the heirlooms' Anne - the papers are perfect for this photograph.

Beryl used 'True Story' as the base for this layout, adding fussy-cut images from 'Sweet Something' patterned papers.  Lovely idea of creating her own frame for her two smaller photographs.  Lovely family memories to treasure.

Gayle decided to use the reverse side of 'True Story' for the base of her layout.  Fab photograph and lovely idea of adding images pertaining to the ladies 'secretarial job'  Great thinking Gayle.

Linda S. used the Kraft Cardstock for the base of this layout, layering with journal cards cut from 'My Type' patterned paper and fussy-cuts from 'Sweet Something' patterned papers.  Love the story of her daughter told through her journal cards and photographs!  Hope Karen appreciates it.

Thanks ladies for sharing your precious memories with us again.  Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely Saturday.  Don't get TOO stressed out with the Christmas shopping.

Mad Scrappers: October Layouts

Whenever we have a Mad Scrappers Club night there are always layouts from the previous month (that have completed at home) to share with you and this month is no exception.  For October the kit was patterned papers from Kaisercraft 'Rustic Harmony' range, coordinating Kaisercraft Cardstock and a Kaiserfusion Pen in Fuzzy Peach.

Fabulous layout from Karen S. using these equally fab patterned papers.  Gorgeous photograph of one of her daughters (priceless!).  I love the addition of that Prima Swirl and flower - just perfect Karen.

Another beautiful layout from Beryl using the Rustic Harmony 'Euphoria' patterned paper from the kit.  Love how Beryl has coloured in some of the butterflies on the paper and the Prima flowers using the Kaiserfusion Pen.  Another gorgeous photograph - brilliant.

Thanks again for sharing with us ladies.  More from the Mad Scrappers Club members tomorrow.  Until then, thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day.

Scrapbook Challenge Entrant

Yeah at last! - an entrant into this month's Scrapbook Challenge from the lovely Beryl.

I love this layout!  The colours are just perfect for a snowy scene.  I love the fab photographs and those sparkly snowflakes.  Beryl created her snowflakes using a punch and some foam material, which she then covered with sparkles.  Thanks for taking the time to enter and for sharing with us Beryl

Thanks also to everyone at last night's Mad Scrappers Club.  The second club night is a smaller group of people (but they are all lovely) and we always have some really interesting conversations (last night involving Vampires, Werewolves, dolls, clowns - just don't ask!).  It's a shame we don't meet again until January - but the time will fly past no doubt.

Thanks for stopping by today.  Remember to pop back tomorrow when I will have some fabulous layouts to show you from our Mad Scrappers.

Color Lab DIY Paint Kit

Look what has just been released from Marion Smith Designs - the Color Lab DIY Paint Kit.

This is the advertising blurb:

"This pigment paint system is truly unique. Add the Color Lab pigments to water, paint, glazes, multimedium and several other mediums to make custom colors. This kit includes 5 pigment paints, 3 micas, measuring spoon, 3 - 2oz bottles with trigger sprayers that have a locking function, and a recipe card to mix your own spray inks. The pigments alone are enough to make up to 30 bottles of spray inks compare that to most spray inks on the market that cost anywhere from $5.99-$7.99 and you will really get a bang for your buck! No more searching for just the right color medium, make it yourself when and where you want! "

Well what do you think?  Would you buy this?  Would you use it?  Leave a comment to let me know.

Mad Scrappers Club is tonight (last one of this month and this year!).  We will be back in the New Year though with more fabulous creations from our club members.  See you tonight ladies - looking forward to it.

Just a few things you will need:

A sturdy A4 Journal (Kraft) from Kaisercraft (or something similar).

A pot of Gel Medium (or Gesso - same thing).

Add some images, paints - using stencils etc. and you have the start of something fab:

Here's the finished page - just needs a quote!

Scrapbook Challenge: November - reminder

Just to remind you that you can get 10 EXTRA entries into this month's Blog Candy Draw by entering the Scrapbook Challenge.  The challenge is open until midnight 29th November 2014.

This is the sample layout that you have to base your creation on - but remember it is your interpretation of this layout that's important.

I know that there is a fabulous entry from one of our Mad Scrappers in the process of being created (which looked gorgeous in it's half finished state).  Until I get that entry the cupboard looks a bit bare.  So I'm pleading with you to get out your lovely winter photographs and get scrapping!

I know I can rely on certain quarters of our Mad Scrappers Club to get involved but it would be lovely if we could get some more entries in this month.  Just to remind you that the gorgeous Teresa Collins 'Tinsel and Company' 12x12 Scrapbook Pack is awaiting the winner of this month's draw:

Thanks for stopping by - see you all back here tomorrow.

Mad Scrappers Layouts

More from our lovely Mad Scrappers today - this time showcasing some of their layouts from October.  In October the kit contained patterned papers from Kaisercraft 'Rustic Harmony' range, along with coordinating Kaisercraft Cardstock and a Kaiserfusion Pen in Peach.

Lovely photograph choice Brenda, shown in a Tando Creative Chipboard Frame.  Fabulous attention to detail as always.

Linda P. up next with her layout using the Fuzzy Peach Cardstock (cut with a Doily Die).  Love the use of the circle bling on your photograph - really draws your eye to the subject.

Another lovely photo choice from Anne D. using the same patterned paper.  Love the tiny butterflies and the zipper, coloured with the Kaiserfusion Pen.

More lovely butterflies - this time on Sue's layout.  Another lovely layout with a great photo choice!

Thanks for sharing with us ladies.  We will be back with our second Mad Scrappers Club later this month, so I will be back sharing more from the Club Members then.  In the meantime, have a lovely Saturday and thanks for stopping by.

Mad Scrappers Layouts: November

The Mad Scrappers Kit this month contains patterned papers from Marion Smith Designs 'Romance Novel Chapter 2', coordinating cardstock and some fab Marion Smith Designs 'Arrow Charms'. The ladies were very busy on Wednesday evening creating with this kit.  I have three layouts to show today (and more to follow later).

First up is Linda P. with this lovely layout, depicting a visit to Beamish Museum:

Linda has added some cute embellishments of her own to her layout.  Lovely little touches like the little scissors cutting into the material, tiny pincushion, sewing machine and dress forms.

Next is Julia. who used some G45 patterned papers to add to her kit:

Very elegant creation Julia - those G45 patterns really coordinate with the Marion Smith Patterned Papers.

Finally, Anne D. with this lovely layout:

I think you'll agree, three completely different layouts using this kit.  Fabulous work ladies - thanks for sharing with us.

I will be back tomorrow with some layouts from the Mad Scrappers from last month.  Until then, thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day.

The Bowes Museum

This is the second layout I have created with this month's Mad Scrappers Kit.  The kit contains patterned papers from Marion Smith Designs range called 'Romance Novel Chapter 2', coordinating cardstock and a full pack of Marion Smith Designs 'Arrow Charms'.

For this layout I used Bazzill Black and Kraft Cardstock and layered it with journal cards taken from 'My Type' patterned paper.  I wanted to incorporate more than one photograph, as well as memorabilia and journaling, so went for this design:

Each journal card tells a little bit of the story of the day, starting with the title on the card, the photographs, and journaling on several of the cards.  All I had to do then was use some of 'Sweet Something' patterned paper to cut out some embellishments.  I particularly liked the 'dress form' as the journaling relates to the 'things I loved' at the museum and this included the 'Fashion and Textile Gallery' (so very apt!).

Thanks for stopping by.  I'll be back tomorrow with some layouts from our Mad Scrappers Club members.  See you then.

Remember This

This month the Mad Scrappers Kit contains patterned papers from Marion Smith Designs range 'Romance Novel Chapter 2', coordinating cardstock and some fabulous Marion Smith Designs 'Arrow Charms'.

I chose to use 'True Story' for the base of this first layout, layering it up with pieces fussy cut from 'Sweet Something' patterned papers and this is the result:

The photograph is of my youngest Granddaughter, taken at The Bowes Museum this Summer.  I used an Echo Park Designer Die to cut the frames for the smaller photographs and the word 'CREATE' on the layout.  I attached the charm with some Prima Ink Black Wire Thread.

The second layout (which I will show tomorrow), continues the story at The Bowes Museum, using the other papers in the kit, along with the cardstock. It is the first of our Mad Scrappers Club nights today - see you all later ladies!
